Who have we been using for wheel alignment services? Just got new tires and thought getting a wheel alignment would be straight forward. Of course, it has been anything but. Most shops I call seem terrified at the mere mention of a Rivian.

Has anyone had luck elsewhere or is the SC our only hope?

Shops that work on high end vehicles might be willing to take the time. There are very specific procedures for alignment on the R1. I don't know how much I would trust a 3rd party.

Rivian recommends Discount Tire for wheel alignments. Please note that not all Discount Tire locations have alignment machines, so I recommend checking their website to identify which stores offer this service. Additionally, it's a good idea to call ahead, as my local Discount Tire that previously aligned Rivian vehicles has informed me they are currently waiting for software updates and aren't aligning Rivian's at the moment.

If you happen to visit a Discount Tire that does not have an alignment machine or is unable to align a Rivian, you might consider calling other local shops to find one with a Hunter Elite alignment machine configured for Rivian specifications. For example, I personally went to a local chain called Blacks Tire and Auto (BTS), which has the Hunter Elite, and they were very willing to perform the alignment on my vehicle.

I couldn't be more pleased with BTS. Discount Tire lost me as a customer now because of the whole ordeal. I'll be going to BTS from now on for Tires and alignments.

Some shops told me the same. If I was too far out of alignment, they didn't have the calibration equipment or skills to recalibrate the cameras. Mine was out of alignment a good bit, and my cameras did not need recalibrating.

I found a local shop with great reviews that was willing to do it...we'll see it how it goes but so far seems promising and cheaper than what Discount Tire quoted me at...if all goes well.

Alignment should not require calibration of any kind. Alignment should entail only camber, toe and caster, plus adjustment of tie-rod lengths (so vehicle tracks straight with steering wheel centered).

Yeah I didn't feel like pushing the matter, but found the response strange. It just sounds like some shops are okay with working on a Rivian while others prefer to say no using whatever verbiage possible.
