So I was finally invited to configure (almost 1 year to the day of my reservation). I am thinking I'm best off with the dual motor now, but that is grayed out. It will only let me choose the quad. Has anyone heard when the dual will be available to configure? I thought they were already shipping at least in low volumes.

I heard the dual motor R1T is rolling of the line, but R1S may be coming later.

Yes, sorry, I switched my reservation to an R1T about a month ago. Just decided I didn't need a 3rd row and the truck had more upsides. But I still can't configure.

When they sent the communication last week about the re-availability of Adventure Gear and the revised date for Q3 delivery window updates, they mentioned that the Dual Motor options would be available in the configurator "soon" and to "stay tuned for details about when you can choose these drive system options." I know that doesn't help you now, as "soon" is a relative term. Maybe contacting CS and/or your guide might help bring you a little more clarity on that timeline. Hoping it all works out for you.

Both dual motor variants are grayed out? Strange.

No, if you are post March 2022 pre-order you can not configure a dual motor anything, yet.

OK, that explains it. I assume no reports on when they open it up to newer orders?

Yeah - it is really hard to say. They haven't started delivering dual motors to customers despite one coming off of the line 2 months ago but hopefully we are close. That said, there is going to be a bit of a line I assume. Possibly Q4 is reasonable for you but tough to say.

yeah, no one knows. those that have configured for dual motor dont have deliveries yet.

we know of two dual motors that have been built. the one that Rivian shared photos of - LA Silver and one that was spotted in Colorado at a club event a few days ago - Glacier White. the second was obviously a manufacturer vehicle as it was driven by Rivian employees. its almost a certainty the LA Silver one is also a manufacturer or employee vehicle.

id guess we start to see the dual motor trickle out at the end of the summer to those who have it locked in their config now. not sure if theres a hold up or they are still on their timeline. if its delayed its either due to more testing in the wild with employees needed, they found issues in the truck or in production.
