Probably safe to say the 45k model won't be coming until at least 2027. I would expect obviously the most expensive models to be produced first....that Tri motor is going to be a hit in the 60k price range. Most models will probably sell in the mid 50k range.

Let's not forget the explore trim when the R1 reservations started. The wife's R1S was originally supposed to be an Explore trim. If Rivian has significant demand, and I think they will in the 50k range....we might not see that 45k model at all.

Its really hard to predict...so many things can change between now and this time next year. I can promise you one thing...it will be exciting. I also heard an unconfirmed rumor from an unknown source that R3X is coming first (after R2)?

Are you sure? You might not like what you find that far in the future.
Well the past isn't looking great either, I'd take my chances.

No, Rivian last announced they had over 100k reservations. Lets assume 25% are people who want a long range, low cost single motor and 25% are the tri motor crazy spec. That latter 25% will be served 1st, then the 50% in the middle before that final 25%

plus that factory year 1 is not going to be running at max operation / max utilization.
also 100K reservations doesn't mean 100K orders.

I get why Rivian is being tight lipped on the pricing, options list, and release date: clearly there is still a lot to get sorted prior to going public with R2 details and they don't want to walk back something they put on the record. However, there has been a sea change in the EV space over the last 3 months and Rivian needs to seize moment and get people on board with R2, even if deliveries are over a year out. R2 represents the third leg of long term stability for the company (1. Amazon EDV, 2. VW, 3. R2) and they need it to be a huge hit.

Canoo is done, Lucid is circling the drain, Tesla has Elon and a stale product line. Rivian needs to start the drip of info now leading up R2 launch. Trucking the one prototype R2 in existence around the country has run out of steam, the R2 web page is exactly the same as it was a year ago, and "starting at $45,000" is old news.

In short, Rivian needs to start releasing details to its R2 reservation holders now and over the summer to build momentum. They cannot afford to miss this opportunity, the company's future viability probably hinges on it.

Last reservation number I saw was in the 70,000 range but with only $100 reservation it is likely there will be a fair amount of cancellations when we get to the actual order time

What do you want them to release?

Cost, range, and others are probably not finalized yet. I can see telling us which configuration will be built first. Maybe also telling the DCFC power rating. What else?

Well, I WANT them to release all the info yesterday. ;)

Realistically, however, whatever they can. If the bill of materials is really at 95% then I would guess there is something they can talk about with high confidence of not having to walk it back later. My point is that they need to do SOMETHING to keep people interested today even if actual ordering with full options and pricing is 9-12 months off.
