I can respect that if there is a viable work around while waiting. For R1S owners waiting for a compact spare there are no good (subjective) work arounds. The options are:

1. Do nothing and live with the fix-a-flat goop. Doesn’t work for larger holes or sidewall.
2. Buy a full sized spare from a 3rd party (Rivian won’t sell me one), and jam it vertically in the well (strapped in for safety) or rig up an external hitch mount.
3. Find someone to bring you a spare (or tow you to one).

They don’t get a pass after waiting a full year for availability. I don’t mean to hijack the wireless thread. I’ll stop commenting here.
I completely agree with you and that is one of several issues/fixes which I do think are important. I’m only giving them an indefinite pass on the wireless charging.

Absolutely. But I try not to repeat them, and accept/learn from customer feedback. Why do they get a pass for taking so long with this?
Who’s giving them a pass?? Constructive criticism is productive. Heckling is moot and helps no one. They’ve already admitted the charging pad is no good. They’ve already said to be working to correct and will offer retrofit, which most people didn’t think they would. Until it is released and available for review/confirmation, what more is there to do but wait?

I have had no issue with charging. THe initial issue was that I could never find the sweet spot to activate charging. In my frustration, I set out to design and cut out on my laser an insert that lies in the center console area and holds the phones in their place.

I have a little more fine-tuning, but so far it has worked.

We have had Opal (our R1T) for about five months. We have used the passive phone chargers in the truck from the beginning. They have Worked well for us and have consistently charged our Samsung Note 20's. Our phones are in the Otter Box Defender cases. We were pleasantly surprised that the passive chargers worked at all. If Rivian does come up with an improved charger, we will most likely pass on it and leave well enough alone.
