One day, I look up and see a fan shape cluster of cracks in the pano roof. Yep, they will charge to replace. Honestly, I think there is a design flaw. If Iit can crack without an incident, then perhaps the corner (where my crack is) isnt protected enough. So, I give them 2300$ and then what? Will it keep breaking and I have mo way of preventing this? I am in California, anyone use a non rivian glass company to fix it? The cracks have lenghtened. Each ray of the fan creeps to the opposite side. When they all do this, will it stop? Is this aesthetic or functional? If I dont replace it, is that safe?

Had a similar experience, except I saw a small impact on top where crack started. Rivian sent me to an authorized Rivian repair here in Atlanta. They couldn't even look at it for a month. There are 2. They were awesome. Replaced and even washed and mini-detailed the car. Once they got the part took half a day. Picked it up next day after it sat and cured. Insurance paid.

The roof glass cracks and Rivian won't replace it under warranty?

I don't think Rivian will sell that glass to anyone, so you're probably stuck with them for the replacement.

If you don't want to replace, perhaps an exterior tint film could be beneficial. Dunno if that will minimize anything. In cold climates it might keep water out and prevent subsequent freeze damage. Maybe an installer might have some knowledge of that....

My R1S roof glass was cracked at time of pickup. Rivian had the glass in stock, but hired an outside glass company to do the installation. I don't think the local SC does the actual replacement of windshields and roof panels. They sub that work out to a glass company that has the experience. While I do not know, I'm venturing a guess that the SC does the calibrations post glass replacement. I had the rear window on my Ford truck replaced and the Ford dealer subbed the glass replacement out to a glass company.
