Just guessing about M6. Once you have the basket you'll know. Pretty sure they are. The T bolts are for sure.

Just another quick question how to did you figure out these are M6 bolts? Or are you guessing? I might just order shorter M6 bolts instead of trying to cut down the longer factory bolts...

Those are for the front wind deflector bar and mounting clips. The 8 bolts for the brackets around the crossbar it does not say what size unfortunately. But based on this it's probably safe to assume M6 as well.

Oops. Ya, all the rest of the bolts are M6 so I think you would be making a safe assumption. Weird they dont specify for those bolts though.

Just for the record and anyone looking for this information in the future - the tech support told me the bolts for the brackets are button cap M6 x 75

@bod925 Curious how this install went for you? Any pictures? Also considering a roof rack to carry a spare time.

@ZackHTX The retro fit for the mounting brackets was a bit more than I had planned but it worked out. I had to drill a larger hole in the middle of the bracket so that the t-bolts would fit. I put the brackets on top of a 2x6 and then stood on top so they would not spin as I drilled the large hole. Had to start smaller and work up to 1/2" I think...I'll verify later but just big enough for the t-bolt.

I then used rustoleum primer and black enamel spray paint, since drilling exposed bare metal.

The t-bolts (https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Yakima/Y8880184.html) are just barely long enough to work with rivian crossbar. In fact, I had to go without using the flat washer that comes with the t-bolts. This is because the Tyger bracket is not completely flat on top where the t-bolt pokes through, so the flat washer does not sit flush against it.
It still secures tightly though.

Next I had to order M6-1.0 x 25mm Button Head Socket Cap Screws, since the ones that came with the Tyger brackets would not work properly. Links below.

screws:

lock nuts:

Something else I did was use heat shrink tubing (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZN3R6TJ?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_5) where the joints of the basket join to help prevent water intrusion. Not necessary but I did it any. Definitely need a heat gun to shrink the tubing.

After all this, I realized the tire is wayyyy to heavy to be lifting on and off the roof rack. So that idea was a flop. I do like having the roof rack and will only mount it when we need to use it.
For the amount invested and how little we use it, I'm happy with the rack. If you are using it weekly then I would go for yakima rack.

As for the tire situation, after realizing the difficulty of lifing it on and off and risking damage to the side of the vehicle, I ended up ordering a spare tire carrier for when we go on road trips. Other times the spare can stay stored in the gargage.
Here is the tire carrier I ordered after a bunch of research. These guys hand make each order and it is the only one on the market specifically made for R1S.

Hope this helps. If you need specific pictures let me know.

Super helpful and appreciate you noting the whole spare on the roof lifting challenge. I was on the fence on this… but with your feedback, I’ll probably just do what you did with the carrier!
