Greetings! This summer I will be pulling the trigger on an R1T. For a long time, I was going to proceed with the Dual Standard option because I preferred the LFP battery technology. With Rivian discontinuing the trim and the issues that arose around calibration, I have decided to go with the Dual option instead.

With that trim, I might pop for the Sound & Vision package which might be nice to reduce the effects of the sun on my bald head. Any bald brothers out there have any insight on this option? Does the opacity make a difference? Is it worth it to you?

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

have you had a past experience with this being an issue or just something you think will be an issue. I have a bald head and a R1S and Model Y. The glass roof has never been an issue for me. I do have the Sound and vision package on R1S but cnat say I notice a difference either way.

also to add. I wouldn’t pay extra gor
The vision package but I wanted the premium sound which is why I got it.

I haven’t had any issues in the past as my current vehicle has a moonroof with an opaque cover. I will be new to the concept of a glass roof so I wasn’t sure if you needed this feature to reduce the impact of the sun through the glass. I do see why you made your choice, premium audio is also nice. Thanks.

Any laminated glass (even clear, untinted glass) will block 99% of UVA and UVB rays. All the glass in the front of the cabin is laminated so you’re fully protected from a skincare perspective. Infrared will still get through and heat up your dome to some extent but that’s a comfort thing, not a safety thing.

I'm not bald but the roof does bother me. Might be more psychological as I hate sunroofs. I put a cover on it and it works fine.
Yeah, I hear you. I can’t roll with the cover open on my moonroof for too long. It’s too bright and heats up the car.

For those that have the electrostatic option, does changing the opacity help significantly with brightness and cabin temperature?

Bald here with a side of skin cancer so I had your same concern. I installed a cover which snapped into place and looks factory. The sun is a non issue after 2 years of ownership.

Yeah, bummer the premium audio isn't a stand alone option.

Yeah, I’m a periodic Efudex (fluorouracil) user so I appreciate your insight. Is the cover easily removed?

I prefer the term Unhaired Person, but I tinted my R1T roof because it made my head, and the cabin too hot in the summer.

Phoenix metro baldy here.

Relatively easy to remove, but they don't look "factory". There will be gaps around the edges. I said I would like to open it some, but I only took it off once to try another cover which was worse fit/look. Just not worth the effort. Plus, 99% isn't 100% so my wife expects it covered at all times for our skin health.

I'm tempted by the electric cover one of the vendors released, but I don't know it's worth $700 to me...
