I just ordered the dual burner 1800W from Amazon. I was going to use it when I go camping next week however looking at the R1T User's manual it reads "Don't use a device that requires more than 1500W..." Does this mean I have to return this 1800W burner I just ordered? This probably was a stupid question but my knowledge of electricity is nil. I don't even understand the difference between watts and amps, lol. Do you have any recommended burner that works with R1T? Thanks guys.

you will be ok as long as you don’t put it on the highest heat setting. If I put mine too high I can hear it cut out

Exactly this. It's a pure resistive load, no motors or capacitors or inrush current or anything like that. Turning the dials turns up the watts. As long as you don't turn it too high on both burners, you're good.

Get induction one instead, they use a lot less power and since they're 'digital' they can deal with voltage drops. I was using cooktop and a kettle at the same time and both worked, albeit slowly.

According to the spec, as long as you’re not using both burners at the max setting at the same time, you’ll be fine.

1800w is too much pf course. I would either go with something just under the limit or hook up a kill a watt at home and experiment with how much power it pulls on different settings.

Most likely you will only be sble to cook with one burner on high and the other on warm.

Not specifically answering your question, but I bought the 1500 watt Blackstone one that others recommended in this string and I highly recommend it for the purposes it serves (could be different than your purposes). https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/electric-cooking-options.11689/post-334699

I use my propane fueled Jetboil for boiling water or other heating of liquid based meals.

I bought a dual burner induction cooktop rated at 1,800W, but my home energy monitor tells me it draws about 1,700W in practice.

I’ve cooked on it at full power using the Rivian with no negative side effects.

The inverter in the truck tolerates slightly higher currents by reducing the voltage. It might work without tripping it as long as the circuitry can tolerate the reduced voltage without attempting to compensate by increasing the current.

Original question answered, this is one of my biggest gripes with our gen of truck
Except for the dometic dual burner that was used in the prototype camp kitchens, I have never seen a double burner that is rated for only 1500w, all (especially the affordable ones) I’ve seen are 1800w.
Heck, even most single burners I see are still 1800w max

We need a bigger inverter

My cooking setup involves two of these electric pans, which are nominally 1200W each, and I can run each of them at full power without tripping the breaker. It doesn't really make sense to me why that works if the R1T is truly limited to 1500W and if the appliances are truly pulling 1200W each, but it works and I have not been questioning it : ).
