We had 4 separate windshield incidents (chips and or cracks) between our R1T and R1S in the last 9 months. It would appear that there is defect in the glass that Rivian is using. How can we as a community bring this to Rivian's attention as a warranty issue? (I have been driving the same routes and roads for years, and never had this issue with my other cars.)

Others have reported having issues with the windshield glass but so far I haven't had any chips in either of my R1s.

Or simply a design characteristic. Jeep Wranglers are no different... except the glass is smaller so less likely to get hit. The Rivian windshield is huge and at an aggressive angle. My guess is that the aerodynamic design of the front of the vehicle cause rocks to hit the windshield vs. flow over it. The glass is getting hit by rocks... that is the issue. No glass is going to survive hard hits.

These are not hard or aggressive hits. The force and size of these pebbles, should not be causing this type of damage. Like I said, I have never had this many issues in 9 short months of ownership with any other maker. At this rate, I will be replacing windshields annually...

My windshield sustained a crack simply from being off camber. Nothing hit it. I was moving <2mph but now I have a crack in the upper left corner simply because the truck flexed. I've seen a number of posts about windshield defects and find it somewhat hard to believe that it's due to the angle or size of the windshield.

My windshield developed a crack last week. It started on left edge and is slowly creeping up to the middle. Doest look like it's from a rock. Have an appointment with SC tomorrow.

Did you get it replaced? Did warranty cover it?

My pano glass on top got a line in it and it is growing. no sign of any pitting or scratch. I bought a sunscreen to cover it up from the inside. I can't see the line unless the light is just right, but my wife is ashamed of the line and does not want a passenger to see it and think we are not diligently responsible. So, the shame is on Rivian not us? We keep the R1T in the garage, no rack, no kids, no seemingly possibility for "trauma." Likely the line will grow to the other side and stop.

My wind shield broke in the first 500 miles of my R1T. It ran 1900 to replace the wind shield.
it was a small pebble that chipped the window which grew into a large crack on a cool night around 50°
I was not happy with that situation.

13 chips over 33K miles. All fixed by a local glass shop. The windshield does look like it's been to a war zone. No developed cracks yet...

My take home on the issue is, I drive far behind trucks, pass them quickly, and have a savings account. I live where many high lift trucks have tires far outside of the fenders. I think it is against the rules of the highway. In my mind tire stores that install tires in this way need to be stopped. Or, tire Mfgrs. need to fund the glass for replacing. I have lost thousand$ to these "Beefy" Macho trucks.
