Hi all

Many of you probably got the email from Rivn regarding a 'customer satisfaction campaign ' that the wiper mechanism may catch a wire harness. I have also heard this from some members where this actually happened and their truck stopped working.

So I took a quick vid to show the problem area on my truck. I put a piece of 0.5" foam in the gap to illustrate how close the mechanism comes to the wire harness. The wiper mechanism is also very sharp piece of metal that can easily do some damage to the wiring. That's a big miss whoever is designing the wiring routing !

How easy was it to access the wiring?

So the wiper arm lower edge (circled in red) moving back and forth is acting like a saw blade on the (outlined in green) area on the wiring harness? Yikes!!

Thanks for posting this...

Looks like you just need to remove the battery access cover, not the entire tub, yes?

Also, VIN?

Curious when your build was, my R1S was Oct/22 16xx and there is at least 2 inches clearance at closest point and neither the wiper mechanism or the wire harness deflects enough to even come close to making contact.

Yes just the top cover, easily seen by the driver side hood hinge.

Good call.. I think you are correct, no need to remove the Frunk... just the fascia that you lift off to change the cabin air filter.

Edited my post mentioning removing the Frunk tub.

They fixed mine in April 2022...had the truck for about a week before it needed the fix. Interesting that they are still having issues.

Lucky for me, I'm in South Texas so never use my wipers. ;)
