Nothing firm but I picked up my R1S from service in CHI last Saturday and the rep there said it was supposed to be done 4Q22 but didn’t because of “political” reasons so maybe issues with permitting or regulations. He did say the current expected time was by early next year or end of this year if lucky. I haven’t heard anything beyond that. I don’t monitor hiring posts or anything though.

edit: I did just find this: https://goodgigs.app/job/field-serv...m_source=google_jobs_apply&utm_medium=organic
Good info! I am hoping sooner than later, but just haven't seen anything suggesting any movement.

That post for Madison based tech was from a while ago. When I first saw it I thought maybe Madison was the target, but Rivian site says Menomonee Falls.

I just want something in either Milwaukee or Madison as Chicago traffic sucks....and I don't want to deal with that to have truck serviced.

For what it’s worth they do have Saturday drop offs in CHI. I basically told them that was the only day I could drop off and pick up because I wasn’t sitting in 2-3 hours of traffic. Leaving MKE around 745-800 got me to CHI SC around 930-945 typically. It is by no means great and I just accumulated a bunch of things to avoid going down there. They desperately need the WI center open. Even the CHI SC rep said they are buried down there and having WI open would take a big burden off them. I’m in Tosa and work closer to the falls so anywhere around there would be ideal but I would take Madison if I had to.

Board just voted against 6:1. Too bad....Rivian needs to find a better location now....and not need a rezone to make it happen.
Well…darn. I got my hopes up. Hopefully they’ve got some backups in mind already.

Me too...so much I watched the dang Village meeting online....just to see what always frustrates me with government meetings like this....everything looked great....Rivian team members did a nice job...answered all questions.....plan commission had recommended....and one board member...who didn't want to lose the power of zoning to restrict property use, made a point that the rezone can't be undone....and future uses may not be as good as Rivian, a decent point.....except it is an industrial park.....and a fairly heavy industrial park at that. The rezone would have controlled any overuse simply by requiring vehicles parked outside to not sit unmoved for more than 3 days and be in parking spots. How on earth can that be a more aggressive use of that property than almost everything already around it. Nobody from the community even showed up to object....and they had been notified.

So in the end...no community objections...everything sounded good....but that loss of control with a slightly looser zoning allowing automotive work, was enough to lose it 6:1. Glad I am not in that line of work....it would drive me nuts....

The Count will donate a few acres at his country estate for the WI service center.

Hopefully the new terms of the zoning agreement are approved. It would be great if they could get something up and running this year like the article claims. I'll believe it when I see it. Trying not to get my hopes up.

I really hope as many WI Rivian owners as possible show up. I still can't believe Wisconsin doesn't have an SC.

Saw this as well. I really do not understand why residents would be opposed to this? Its in an industrial park. I am ready to place an order but lack of SC has had me hesitating. Would be amazing to have an SC so close to all of us.

I live 3 miles from the Minneapolis SC…it’s indeed amazing.
