Before we dive in, apologies for taking so long to get this out. Life is hectic as school starts soon for me as a teacher and I am PACKING my last days of summer.
Here we go!
Bruce (DuckTruck) once again sent a text and let me know to look online for another event in Portland. Our previous adventures - to remind folks or inform you if you are new - was at Fido’s, a fine bar that is dog and Rivian friendly.
Bruce decided it was time to mix it up and brought us to brand new digs: Rock Creek Tavern, a McMenaman’s owned property. Bruce can tell the history and story of these brothers and their adventures some day over beer or a cheesecake.
We started our adventure with a few folks chatting around Jim’s El Cap R1T outside before moving inside and finding our way up stairs. Jim quickly found his stride as he, like Bruce, is a Duck’s fan. We had the patio set aside and the whole crew got to catching up or introducing themselves. As always, laughter echoed and smiles were contagious.
The stories around trucks on trains, guides on phones, and R1Ss on hold abounded. The night wrapped up with talking about soccer (thanks Timbers crew for humoring this Sounders fan) and helping our waitress V sort out her trip to Greece. We were so excited for her, started sharing all sorts of advice, and even got her a few connections in case she needs them when she is there. At the end of the night, we realized we had no photos of the trucks because we had been having such a great time just humaning (sorry language nerds, but that just got verbed!). All in all, it was another fine night of community started around Rivian, but built around kindness and openness.
This community we are building is quite amazing. Thanks to all of you who made this one and we look forward to meeting folks at the next one.
P.S. If you were there and got one of the group shots, please message me so I can get that added at the end here.
