I drove 400 miles to Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico for the Baja 500, drove off road 12 miles to find a great spot to watch the race. Went back to restaurant in town and when walking back to the truck, I said, "what is that under the truck? Ooooooops it is my jack puck!! Stinking magnets never let it loose even off roading quick on a whoop road.....It happened to another customer, said he came back from a run and said the same thing! His was stuck there for days.....

Sidetracked: I'm with the others, it is most likely the caliper hanger tool like others have suggested.....

Product testing and validation. Yah, that's it.

Interesting. I thought I was the only one that had that happen. I recently had my tires rotated, discount tire, and they came out and showed me the same type hanger. Going back over the assembly process at Rivian I can't think of any place that would be used. As others have already said, it is a hanger for brake caliber. It would have come from the SC during a possible update / inspection / etc. before delivery.

I was going to comment about this in another thread. I drove around for an hour or so before it clicked that I forgot to remove one of your magnet pucks. I was relieved that I didn't cheap out and buy an inferior product.

Also, definitely a caliper hanger.

It does look like a caliper hanger but, seeing the rust, I'd bet it started out on someone else's vehicle and spent some time on the road before your tire kicked it up onto your suspension.

I'd take a photo and ask Rivian. This sounds like a case similar to when doctors leave things inside people during surgery. Not as sickening but does make you wonder. Please, let us know what you find out.

Ask what? Already established what they are, there are also past posts on the same thing. Rivian just need to be made aware and reminded they need to keep eye on the prize and do their jobs better. If one employee can't be counted on to work through a checklist, have a second to do the same. And have accountability, so it doesn't happen again.

Ask Rivian what they think it is and if it is what most have pointed out then make them aware. I'd rather Rivian make the determination and explain themselves. Just my (not expert) opinion.
