I had a chance to put my Front Loader on my cargo rails over the bed. It's extremely close to being a good fit. It will likely work for 26ers and smaller wheels, but my 26er has studs on it right now and I don't feel like taking that chance.

This is not the same Yakima that Rivian sells.

Is that another bike mount you have attached to the hitch?

I'm trying to figure out if my Kuat NV 2.0 rack will work with the truck bed. It has a feature that lets you drop the rack away from the vehicle but I don't think it's designed for a truck tailgate.

Unfortunately it will not. The Kuat racks only drop 40-45 degrees down and away from upright. Maybe with no bikes in it?

Best bet here is probably a swing-away hitch like the Kuat Pivot. You can add that between your NV 2.0 and the truck.

I'm hoping to find a better solution than a hitch mount though because it feels like tempting fate with the tailgate. I have a tailgate pad on the way and hope it will work.

I have a four place 1-up. Looks like you could use three places still and use the tailgate.

Thanks for posting that. Doesn’t look like a 29er would fit in that Yakima, or possibly not even a 650b? About how much gap did you have between the spoiler and your tire?

This is a 650b+. It might technically fit, but I would likely put anti-abrasion tape on the spoiler if we were going to drive on anything that wasn't nice road. It's maybe a little over an inch. Shaking the bike made it get too close for comfort. I might just leave it up on the rack for now anyway.

I thought you were supposed to mount larger bikes in reverse (front wheel in the back). That's what i'm planning on doing with my 29er but i'm not sure it will fit or not.

Ah ok. Thanks for that. I’ve not used that type of rack before. I didn’t know there was that much play. makes sense.

Pics of Rivian Yakima bike rack for crossbars. Despite reverse setup from the Frontloader shown in OP, note rear tire nearly as close to top of cab spoiler at rear window.

No clue if the Rivian Yak version can be slid further aft on the bars. We also have a Frontloader, and it clamps to the front bar in a fixed position and cannot be slid further back.

Can confirm, the Yakima HighRoad ("Rivian Yak") cannot be slid further aft. Crossbars can't move any, and front of the HighRoad doesn't slide, only the rear adjusts along the bottom rail.
