You folks ever give a jump to another driver?

Those small jump packs aren’t effective for EVs. They are meant for ICE and focus on short bursts of cold cranking power. EVs need sustained power, long enough to boost computers. This info is in the Owner Guide. Rivian doesn’t use NOCO. What they do use is a lead acid JNC, see rivianservicetools.com (Snap-On Tools).

I agree that Li jump boxes are not supposed to work. But am thinking Rivian tools must be selling this because it jump starts Rivians:

I carry a powerbank/jumpstarter to guard against possible Rivian 12 volt issues. Suppose I could help someone else out but that's not why I carry one.

lol - I resemble that remark. When some asks if you can help jump start their car and you respond with “you are asking me if I can, not will I help you?” , you know you’ve crossed that line.

I would not jump anything from an EV. I carry a NOCO Li jump box.

That is a trickle charger, not jump pack.

There is no reason that a lithium battery cannot help a Rivian or other EV. This stuff isn’t magic and it’s just math. How many watt hours are in the battery pack and how many will it take to restore your vehicle. That simple. The chemistry does not matter.
