Kind of odd they are sharing stories of vehicle features (gear gaurd) when deliveries are supposed to be happening. You would think they would have these videos out months ago. Ugh, Everything this company does is so odd. They excite me every 2 weeks with an email until I open it and it's some Zen event in the Venice hub.

Really hope the experience owning the truck is a good one. I've been waiting since 12/8/2018, just getting old.
they are pretty much amateur hour when it comes to communication and timing. this is just another example of it.

at this point kind of wish Rivian would tell employees getting their trucks (and any S) just keep it on the QT and stay off social media. Each time an employee delivery is highlighted it feels like a gut punch.
seriously

They need to institute a policy that new hires have to wait at least say six months before getting a vehicle. While it can be a recruitment tool there is salary, bonus and stock to help people decide to join Rivian. Plus the professional growth of joining a growing new(ish) company. They should now hold off selling (subsidized) vehicles to enable real paying customers a shot at getting a vehicle.

I will never understand why people are in such a rush to get the first models of vehicles in their hands. You do realize you will be inheriting ALL the problems that comes with being first off the production line (for what? So one can complain how Rivian boned them over?). LET the employees get them first, let Rivian discover where they faltered, so that when we (the non-employee customers) actually have one in hand the vehicle will be less inclined to suffer from such oversights that first model rolling off the assembly line will have.

Employees aren't being given priority, they're being used as guinea pigs.

I understand your point but we are not talking about very early builds. They validated last year and have been manufacturing for sale since September (their pitch before IPO). They have at this point at least 1500 sold so they should have solved most issues that would prevent sales to real customers. If they wait until every issue is resolved then they would never sell. No issue selling to employees but it is one thing when they are longstanding members of staff and another when the person joined just a few weeks earlier.

My vehicle is next year and I am happy to wait. What I would like is some more details on the R1S that are unrelated to production like third row space and access along with rear cargo space. All sorted since validation and production was completed two months ago (again Rivians own words).

They are being given priority. Maybe for a good reason but it is priority if some joins them and gets a vehicle in 90 days vs people who have waited over three years.

Fully understand that in September, Even December but at some point they gotta cut the cord and at the very least not give an October hire a truck that means there's no supply chain issues if an October hire can get a vehicle but public customer can't .

Hate to break it to anyone. Any Vehicle that Rivian churns out within the last 5 months and next couple of months are all early builds. It's not till we see more significant numbers that this will start to reflect.

From experience, their communication throughout the hiring process is almost as bad as their vehicle launch.
I think it's my 8th application to them, all have been rejected. I really don't for fun and I do not expect to hear anything.

Well if that is true then why even sell any to real customers until this summer? Why even go through validation and all the testing over the past three plus years?
It is asinine to suggest that people should be grateful to not get one now because there could be minor issues.
From all the reviews the interior build quality has been universally praised, panel fit is good and the UX works ok with decent OTAs. So they are good to go.

Why pay for guinea pigs, plus give them ludicrous discounts, when you have full-price paying free-labor guinea pigs at the ready? (That's us)
Because we would complain publicly about all the little problems, employees can't.

Which is exactly why I think people making the "employee deliveries are real deliveries" argument are naive or choose to keep their head in the sand.
