Seems like they are rolling out the same prototypes everywhere so it's a lot of shipping around. All the production cars are probably going to employees. Might be holding off till June/July for the for the one's that go out for test drives at Spaces?

It let me RSVP (again) for the day I intended to go, with the same email as I used weeks ago. And no communication follow-up from either as well. Hope they let me it, that'd be a long 1k mile drive for nothing

Got some notices about the Palo Alto block party today.. saying “be prepared to wait in line” and Stanford shopping center only has 2000 parking spaces, so maybe think about parking in one of the three Palo Alto free parking garages… jeez.. if this event overwhelms the shopping center, I’m gonna wait till there are cars in stores in Mid June. (Which is also something they said)

I doubt I am going to get an order option prior to that..

I was going to drive down to Miami, from Orlando, but not sure if will be worth the hassle with traffic, lack of parking, etc.

I believe that Forest Green is an R1. The headlights are a tell, plus I saw a Youtube video and I think the poster mentioned that it was an R1.

The outside one is an R1 but the inside one is an R2. You can tell because there is no charge door R2 has a different hood, more of a clamshell hood.

If any of you go, ask the Rivian rep if this vent in the trunk on the right side is an AC vent. This screenshot was from a YouTube video was just uploaded from another block party. User didn’t know what it was for.

Decent crowd at the Palo Alto (stanford shopping center) site for I guess day #2.. got there around 09:40, was ~ 15 min line. Nice crowd of current or prior owners.. mostly men oddly. They had the same CC and Grey in the front, but it was nice to see the R2 next to an R1S to get a clear understanding of height, length and heft between the two cars.

Overall, fit and finish is quite nice, better than I expected. Materials feel of decent enough quality, the seats and the functional materials.

For me at 6’4”, trying to sit in the front seat comfortably, not a problem and even getting back behind the driver was more than ok.. a bit spread legs, but once SO was in the drivers seat I had a ton of knee space.

Here is a shot o my sitting posit ion and eye level view of the driver dash, so no problem seeing the display there even when sitting at my high position.

And I tried to get a real image color of what the CC looks like in person.. the first shot is the camera shot, and then I adjusted the exposure to get the color more what it looks like in real life (At least my eyes).

By the time we left at 10:18, there was about ~ 75-90 ppl waiting outside around the block.

We went to Palo Alto yesterday. 1 hour to get inside where the cars are.

Yesterday ,doors opened at 09:55, 3 RIVIAN ppl were outside with iPads and checkins, no further confirmation as necessary assuming one had pre-RSVP’d and they pulled you and +1-3 up on their list, boom you’re in.. it was a pretty well run procesS.

Top tip, you can grab free coffee, tea or drinks BEFORE the doors open.. ;-)
