I need tire’s for my 20’s. Prioritizing efficiency. The General Grabber HTS 60 is tops on Rivian Tracker (https://riviantrackr.com/rivian-tire-guide/?size=275/60R20&sort=efficiencyGrade) and here (https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...-wheels-and-33-tires-options-275-60r20.24561/) but everyone seems to be going with Wranglers or Hankook. What am I missing? They're super cheap too. Tread wear may be a knock but you’ll get prorated on the mileage warranty if you rotate.

Anyone with grabbers care to share their input? How about pics?

What you’re missing is that the General is not 3PMSF nor a MS rated tire. And some people live in climates where snowy winters are a reality; the case for the Goodyear. Plus, it’s a factory offering with a software profile make specifically for it. As for the Hankook… compare UTQG and mileage warranty. Basically you looked only at two stats, ignored the rest.

Thanks for the input. To be fair I did address treadwear.

Regarding UTQG; tread wear numbers are only reliable within a specific brand since it’s a self reported metric. Beyond that the grabbers are A traction rated and B temp rated (up to 115mph).

I’ve had mine two weeks so I’ve been hesitant to start singing their praises just yet. My initial impressions tho mirror yours. I’ve been super impressed. They are SO quiet!

The caveat for me and worth mentioning, mine is a commuter car, not an adventure vehicle. I also was dead set against Goodyear. I had a set with 5k miles on them on an F250 and had troubles they wouldn’t stand behind. Even went to corporate. It’ll be a long time before I buy a set of GY again.

My #2 was the Hankook ION and price pushed me to the Generals. I needed tires 3 months ago and did the whole paralysis via analysis thing. So far, I’m happy and I really didn’t expect to be.

Did I mention earlier they are quiet? 😁

I originally was planning to go with the grabbers but in comparison to the defenders I would never choose them. The defenders might be the best tire made for a Rivian. Highly rated in every category and the tread life is amazing. I have put about 20k miles on mine now and not even down halfway. I should be able to get 50-60k miles out of a set.

Could you post a few pics of them? I’m assuming you went 70 width? Mine is a commuter car that will tow a few times a year to the lake.

Defenders are my second choice but they’re B traction rated and Rivian Tracker shows 2.1mi/kwh efficiency which is a lot lower than the grabbers. What efficiency have you been seeing? They’re priced pretty well

I actually went 60’s. I was all in on efficiency. Plus, Rivian gave us a 20” all season 60 setting so I just swapped to that. Right now it’s raining and kneeled in the garage. I’ll get it out and get some pictures.

I really liked the Defender Platniums but at the efficiency and price that went away fast.

The straight Defenders were 2x what these cost, I’d be shocked if they’d last 2x long. It was worth the gamble, to me.

2.1-2.25 . Also, the Grabbers are not 116H. I don't know about where the B rating for traction is coming from but on tirerack its rated good to excellent in all sections. in reviews while not rated 3PMS, it outperformed 3P tires. I suspect this was due to other more expensive tires on offer. Link

B rating is UTQG. I get 2.1 ish on my stock 34” AT’s so I’m hoping to get more for the sake of longer trips. H rated shouldn’t mean much since the cars are top speed limited. Most of my driving is around town so not a big deal otherwise. The defenders are better looking IMO

I've got just under 2k miles on my set with about 2.09mi/kw efficiency. I'm a little disappointed as I went to the 20" equivalent of the 21's I had on previously and with the super light weight atomic wheels...was hoping for better efficiency, but it's worse then my 21's. Lighter wheel/tire combo and the same overall size diameter, would have thought it would have been the same efficiency. I think the ride is better, hopefully they will last more than 20k miles, and do have a 60k warranty. They do look way better though! :)

That’s really disappointing to hear. I wonder why efficiency is so poor relatively.

hopefully I will at least get 40k miles out of them, and get a prorated discount and then try something else.

They were OE on my F150 Lightning. I wasn’t a fan. Wore extremely quickly and never impressed with their grip. I no longer own the Lightning but I just put Nokian OneHT’s on my R1T and they’ve been fantastic. Incredible price too at less than $200 per tire.

What kind of efficiency numbers are you seeing?
