You still have physical volume control. The left scroll wheel on the steering wheel adjusts the volume. You won't even need to take your hands off the wheel to make an adjustment. Only passengers will have to make do with the screen for changing volume.
I've yet to use the center console knob in my Defender even once. I use the steering wheel every time. Hands on wheel == winning.

Besides the obvious issues of terrible communication and delivery delays.....the lack of a physical volume control knob on the center dash is a huge complaint of mine.

I know it may seem minor and "I will get used to it", and I'm sure I will...I will have to. But that doesn't mean it was the right decision by Rivian and doesn't mean I can't and won't be annoyed by that decision.

Every time I adjust the volume in my current vehicle, I can't help but think about how frustrating this is going to be in my future Rivian....so, yeah, I'm thinking about Rivian's silly decision basically 20 times a day, everyday.
I was today years old, reading this comment when I realized I control the volume with the scroll wheel in my Tesla and there was no dedicated control near the touch screen.

Rivian told us about the batteries, the security system, the suspension, the drive modes, the audio system, the camera system, the range, the tires, the colors, the service system, the plant, the delivery method, its own insurance, its own lending system, its charging network, the at home charger, the gear tunnel (at length), the kitchen thing, the frunk, the bed, the options..........

Deliveries have started and people are being contacted, should Rivian disclose their numbers and addresses? This is a new company that is making a new vehicle in a new factory, it takes time.

This is a new company that is making a new vehicle in a new factory, it takes time.
Agreed, but the employees are not aliens/new to the planet and certainly understand that lack of communications (the #1 complaint by far) has always been a huge source of frustration for humans.
Once you shed some light on issues, the frustration can be somewhat moderated by presentation of actual facts vs. the uncertainty that "bunker mode" mentality brings.

BTW a select all was not given or any other combination to achieve a true picture of what is going on here beside a smoke screen from RIVIAN.

What smoke screen? They shared all this information, invited people to the plant, held events so people could drive vehicles. If you don't want to wait, cancel would be better for the rest of us since you won't be in line anymore.

Wait so you are mad that you put a deposit down on something that was a concept from a brand new company and it took them time. I have received plenty of communication, more than enough to keep me going, not sure maybe they should put live stream cameras in the plant so you can watch. Let's be realistic people just like to complain.

Let's look at this at a high level. 3-5 years ago, little was known about this startup EV company. They proposed a vehicle where you could put a deposit down saying you MIGHT get a car at a certain timeframe. This is a new EV company, not Ford who's been building cars for 150 years.

It was your choice (and other early reservation holders) to put money down for a vehicle sight unseen. If it is that upsetting, cancel the order and purchase any choice of 100s of other vehicles that are frankly probably better than the Rivian (but maybe use more gas lols).

Then that'll bump me ahead. I placed an order for an R1S (not much known about it) only a couple months ago and I don't have any expectations on communication.

I have a better idea to bump us both ahead. Focus on the people not the corporations like AMAZON. The delays started back when the AMAZON Vans were a priority and the general public was pushed aside.

I feel bad for the reps who are fielding the calls and chats. Executive team is hanging them out to dry with no update info.

I do wonder why Rivian has not spun up an app that would allow its pre-order folks to schedule a time to at least see/sit in its vehicles in Normal. I mentioned that I'd spend my own dime to travel and at least look at and maybe sit in one. I received the old "Covid protocol" nonsense. And no, I'm not flying cross the country (to CA) to sit in a car, when their plant is a few hours from home. It was a ridiculous thing to offer as a solution. I'm hopeful that the info dam will break soon with more info and options.
