During my R2 drive (brief thoughts here) I was able to test fit my 1Up Equip'd rack. Not surprisingly, it fit great. Not quite as nice as it tucked up on our R1S, but still super clean. Few pictures for those interested:

Perfect, how did it respond to the assist systems when in reverse?

I didn’t try driving with it. I’d imagine it will be similar to the R1S. Complains a bit unless you put it in rear-accessory mode.

I’d recommend moving it further from the bumper. My bike handle bar and pedal have scratched the lift gate after a big bump on the highway and it was positioned further than yours.

Thanks for posting! I'm wondering if there is enough room between back of vehicle and pedals/handlebars without using a hitch extender. Did you try loading a bike?

I keep it that tight on my R1S with thousands of miles on the back with multiple different mountain bikes with 800+ mm bars and zero issues (Revel, Ari, Mondraker). Are you using a 1Up?

I didn’t. But I don’t see why it would be very different from our R1S that’s had zero issues (in fact, R2 might be even better as the R2 is shorter hitch to top of car).

yes, the heavy duty one. If your highways are smooth you may be ok. Not the situation on I80 between Sac and SF. One big drop and you will see and hear your bike moving.

Crazy. I literally off-road to trails and no issue. Wonder what’s different between our two setups? Either way though, like you said, recommend people pay close attention.

On that one picture showing the rack in stored position the hatch looks like it has a giant gap with the bumper cover? Is that just a trick of the picture, or was it that huge?

I think that’s just a weird artifact. I was actually super impressed at the panel gaps for such an early unit. The only piece that wasn’t perfect was the nacs cover. And it was minor.

I have a 1up rack, and I am going to get one of them pool noodles from the dollar store and put it on the part that would hit the hatch. I live in terror that I will forget its on there and accidentally push the hatch open button on my current SUV. I've seen black noodles on occasion, so wouldn't look too goofy I am hoping.

I have the single rack and the bolt on extension on my RAV4 and the tailgate
does not hit when it's the single rack. I leave that on all the time and add the
second only when I take another bike. It will definitely hit with the two bike
configuration.
