That's odd. I'm seeing the same thing on pre-configured vehicles but their general warranty page lists 4 years: https://www.polestar.com/us/service-and-assistance/car-warranty/

ok - maybe that was a typo on the site. I will be going down to the dealer tomorrow so I will confirm, hopefully there is no markup over the (already steep) MSRP.

I think you would lose less if you went with a 3-4yo used vehicle as a short term holdover till your R1S is ready. Flip the used car when the R1S is ready, in this crazy market you might get what you paid for it.

I think that is a good option too! As someone else said, they don't seem to get as much attention as some of the other brands, but they get good reviews. I saw one for the first time in my area a few weeks ago and I thought it looked really nice. Plus, I've heard Kia/ Hyundai dealers are trying to extort many buyers of those vehicles to pay over MSRP. I doubt that would happen with the Polestar.

I just found a Polestar 2 available for immediate delivery near me (in Princeton). While I would think a better alternative (size wise) would be the Polestar 3 (which I think was going to be their larger SUV than the Polestar2) I could still go for the P2 if I have to.

Do you guys have any opinion about the Polestar 2 ?

I obsessed over the Rivian R1S for over a year and know everything about it - so being forced into this position is not something I am looking forward to....

If you like cars for their driving dynamics and/or like Volvos it's a great car. If you want a car by the numbers and solely for range or efficiency, there are better options.

In the current market I don't think so. Especially if you can get an EV with the tax credit still. It's not hard to buy an EV and then trade it in after a few months within ~$3k of the retail purchase price. Whereas used cars are being sold at basically the same as a lot of new cars off the lot. It's stupid. Like... why buy a 3 year old tesla for more than what it costs to buy a new one?

The cheapest option is almost always to keep the car you own. With a blown transmission, your car is probably worth $2k, but with a repaired transmission you can drive it another 2-3 years and sell it for probably what you spent repairing it.

A new car is going to cost thousands in sales tax and registration, costs which are unlikely to be recouped in even the best resale market (now). A lease is going to have a portion of those plus depreciation.

That’s the best looking acura that isn’t an NSX. TSX pre-beak is timeless

I needed an interim car when my last one started having issues I didn't want to spend money on and we picked up a Polestar 2 just in December.

Great car, but there are some caveats with it that are more than annoyances depending on the time of day.
The TCAM issues are real, and annoying to deal with as it'll kill your GPS as well as Data.
The rear seat is fairly small for adults to sit in because of the shape of the roof and knee size.
The standard 19" tires are summer and I had to replace them immediately since I took delivery in Minnesota in December.

Though I will say the rest of the experience outside of this is fantastic and my wife and I both love the car.

Let me know if you have any specific questions since I always find it hard to speak in generalizations.

Find an EV that still has the tax credit and that you actually like. EV6/Ionic/ID.4, etc. After nearly a year I'm still in the black on trade-in value to Vroom with my ID.4 (neglecting sales tax and registration fees).

You *could* so do a short term lease/subscription with Volvo or something, but there's zero chance of getting that money back. It didn't make sense to me financially when I looked at it.

I'll point out the obvious here, but this is assuming a continued car shortage and economic condition of the country. In normal economic times, the rental could come out substantially ahead.

However any base model desirable new EV, should work out for you.

Absolutely. Pretty much any other time I'd say find the cheapest used car that will last a year.

A really detailed review of the Polestar 2. For me, the nearest test drive was 180 miles away and I wasn't that interested. I went the Audi e-tron route for a smaller (5 seat) SUV until my vehicle might be here end of 2023. I've been an Audi fan for years and owned 6 since 2000 so that's why I chose it.
