My opinion is that orders should go out in the order that maximizes profits for Rivian stockholders, minimizes conflicts in manufacturing processes, conforms with supplier's delivery abilities, optimizes satisfaction for Rivian's customers, maintains best working environment and benefits for Rivian's employees, and is consistent with all applicable laws and regulations. These ordering criteria are not listed in any priority order, as all are top priorities. Obviously a simple Excel spreadsheet might be needed to figure out the best delivery order.

Are you getting the Performance with Launch Package or waiting for the Premium or Standard? Where’s your location, service centers nearby? Just curious if there’s a method to their madness.

Same! I'm glad as I want standard, not sure on LR or not. Current R1T owner, 50 miles from nearest service center. I reserved March 7, 2024.

I think I’m going with the Standard as well. Unless I can win one of these EV raffles this Summer.

I got an email along with the account updates that seems to insinuate that yhe Launch edition is available only when its my time to order, which is in 1-2weeks however the wife wants borealis launch edition so I need to contact rivian i suppose.

My order window is November to December, and they assured me the LE will be available. Did your wife's reservation specifically say you want the LE?

There is no rhyme or reason why some people get order invites and others don't. Nothing is messed up once you realize it's just a lottery and luck is all that matters for order invite timing.

I ordered April 2026, didn't select "I want LE package", and got an order invite June 11th. I was just lucky. Nothing else to say.

Apparently if you have more than one R2 reservation made at the exact same time (minute zero, day one). The second reservation gets booted to the back of the line. Got the order in for the first. The second reservation is now showing DEC-FEB. They must be trying to prevent flips or something. In our case we actually planned on ordering both, but with this timeline, that might change the plans for the second.

Me too, but I'm not going to ascribe a motive. Other than to observe it's super common for supply-constrained items to be limited to n-per-customer.

Really wish RIvian was more straight forward about this process. Orders should just go out in the order that they were received.

Did you read the reservation agreement? I think Rivian is being perfectly straightforward by saying exactly what they said with the R1:

You are under no obligation to purchase a Vehicle from us, and we are under no obligation to supply you with a Vehicle.​

These Terms do not constitute an agreement for the sale of a Vehicle and do not lock in pricing, a firm production slot, a firm delivery date, or specific Vehicle configuration.​

Once you start inferring conditions over and above what they've stated in writing, that's on you. We went through this four years ago with the so-called "pricegate" where Rivian increased their prices - exactly like they said they could do in the deposit agreement - and a lot of people threw a fit.

And just like with the R1, if you are "waiting" for a configuration that is not scheduled to ship until next year, it doesn't matter how early you put down your deposit - they will only be shipping what is available, when it's available. Those of you who want the RWD version or lidar etc. are going to have to wait while they ship what they're currently making to anyone who wants it.

The invite process seems designed to temper expectations. There were far more reservations on the first day than the number of R2 shipping this year. People who expected an R2 by summer just because they had a first day reservation are IMO a little delusional. It's even amazing that Rivian met the R2 ship date they announced two years ago, because of all the huge changes that have affected EV manufacturing since then. Now you have a reality check, and the first real timeline they have set for individuals.

That said, since invites are not vehicles, it should be easy to hold to the date range they sent you, and that's what I expect. And if production turns out better than they planned, perhaps you can get your sooner, but I wouldn't makes plans for that.

Yes, I asked the assistant on the website and it said that the order will be processed and we will receive it when its available, so thats good. Said 1-2weeks for order and 4-8 weeks for delivery so pending delays looks like she could get a borealis sometime in September. See the last sentence of this screenshot, makes it seems like launch edition is only available to you if you build your vehicle in your personal order window. IE if you dont order in that window you dont get launch edition? We will definitely build it in the window so we should be all good

As noted above, if you have two R2 reservations then one of them is pushed back to Dec 2026-Feb 2027. What does your other one say?

I see from your image that there is "Action required". You might want to fix that if you want an accurate estimate.

But sounds like you already made up your mind before this notification, and just want to stomp out of the room to let us know.
