Impact of not ordering R2 when your time comes

We’ve had an R1T since Sept 2022 and love it. I just got my Res notice for 4-8 weeks for the R2. What we’re curious about is the impact of future Rivian orders (like the R3X!) if we don’t order this R2? Do we end up on a naughty list? Do our future reservations get put to the back of the line?

Only big advantage for the whole reservation system seems to be reserving the second you can when R3 reservations start to get a 3 to 6 month benefit. Whatever year that happens. They don't use reservations to negatively profile you to block purchases as it's just an order que to gauge interest.

R3X might not even be available right away with R3 reservations so that's another wrinkle that's a long long way down the road. We know there's likely to be a RAD version of R2 coming, but no info or reservation que for it.

I think the only benefit may be you get a higher chance to move up the line, but as it will be a mass produced car, I don't see it having much impact as even now the order is more reliant of other information and chance.

This is Rivian, not Ferrari where an allocation for new models heavily depends on other vehicle purchases.

Rivian will sell you R3X if you want one.

I believe you can purchase the car under any name though, so if you know the person you want to transfer to, you might be able to purchase "for" them and just finance/register the car in their name instead of yours. Otherwise no, you can't transfer the reservation to their account.

There is no line. Currently, R2 invitations appear to be random with late reservations having received unexpected invitations.

As for those asking about transfer of reservations, the information is in your reservation agreement: not transferable without Rivian’s consent. See Assignment section. https://rivian.com/legal/preorder And unless between spouses, granting of consent is highly unusual.

They said R3X will come first. Which makes sense. Sell the higher margin one while you ramp production just like with R2 Performance.

Price lock in potentially like the R1, but my guess is they won't keep open past due reservations past any annual price increase like R1. Who knows.
