Yep, to each their own. Not my cup of tea but do understand why some like it.

Not misinterpreting anything; thatās what he said. Heās not gonna buy it because it doesnāt have Apple CarPlay.I just finished the ācast. I think you are misinterpreting pretty much all he said. Additionally, he was busting their balls up front just to have fun. Heās an enormous Rivian fan and says so. This ācast is full of technical and deep discussion that enthusiasts like many in this forum will appreciate. Example, the discussion on the range impact of the 20ā ATās.
The same people who want Carplay on cars are the same who also complain about screens being too distracting while driving. People just love to complain, even if contradictory. Not misinterpreting anything; thatās what he said. Heās not gonna buy it because it doesnāt have Apple CarPlay.
I do have a beef with anybody who says something like this anyway. Your focus in a car should not be your phone. Period. The end.
I donāt care how good the self driving becomes your job is to drive the car.
Besides, if you truly "love driving" (which has been alluded to above, and is often a "reason" for getting a Rivian) YA SHOUDNA BE ON YER PHONE ENNYWAY...
And he made it clear R3X is where his heart is at. And despite the R2 being not for him, he concedes (despite quirks) it is a rare close-to-perfection product.I watched the video, it was impressive!
I love my CarPlay, but it is not worth not buying the car. I think he was a bit tongue in cheek about that being why he would not buy the R2.
Watching that video just makes my buying decision all the more solid.
Not quite... He's not buying it because what he really wants is the R3Xāwhich will also, most definitely, not have CarPlay. Not misinterpreting anything; thatās what he said. Heās not gonna buy it because it doesnāt have Apple CarPlay.

He also said that that and a few other comments were minuscule niggles in an otherwise stellar vehicle. It was a bunch bros cracking wise. He owns an R1Not misinterpreting anything; thatās what he said. Heās not gonna buy it because it doesnāt have Apple CarPlay.

And I love how people latch onto that one crack from him and ignore the heaps of praise he piles on Rivian and all the good info thatās in this discussion. And the boys from Rivian fired right back. I enjoyed itYeah agreed. I thought he brought up a *great* point that went well beyond just wanting CarPlay to message people. He's completely right that Rivian is tied to Google Maps and their current suite of apps. Your phone will always have the latest and greatest music, entertainment, and mapping apps that you prefer.
I'm most certainly not in the "CarPlay or NOTHING" camp but I can totally understand the folks that prefer using Android Auto/CarPlay verses built in infotainment systems.
Yeah, I thought it was pretty obvious -- Jason wouldn't buy an R2 even if it DID have CarPlay -- it's not his thing. So the whole segment about CarPlay/Android Auto wasn't primarily for his benefit, but to voice the frustrations of everyone who's been saying the same thing for ages. Not quite... He's not buying it because what he really wants is the R3Xāwhich will also, most definitely, not have CarPlay.
Again, he was busting their balls with his personal nit-picks in order to make a fun conversation. And CarPlay being a hot button issue, I'm sure viewership is another motivation.
I may be wrong, but I don't think he owns an R1. He said multiple times that it's too big and that he drove one back at the original presser for the vehicles. And he made some comparisons to R1 Gen 2, but no mention that he actually owns one.He also said that that and a few other comments were minuscule niggles in an otherwise stellar vehicle. Cammisa is not a R1 owner. That's Jonny Lieberman of MotorTrend. He also said that that and a few other comments were minuscule niggles in an otherwise stellar vehicle. It was a bunch bros cracking wise. He owns an R1
Maybe I misheard. I know he said he talked a lot of his neighbors into buying one. In there I thought he included himself.Cammisa is not a R1 owner. That's Jonny Lieberman of MotorTrend.
He featured a early gen1 quad and a gen2 quad in two separate video for Hagerty. But he doesn't own one.Maybe I misheard. I know he said he talked a lot of his neighbors into buying one. In there I thought he included himself.
LMAO, so you've never actually watched any of Cammisa's content before? Pretty stereotypical for him and definitely of the Carmudgeon podcast in general. Fantastic content, as usual for them. Perhaps you require an adjustment to your sense of humor. Love the fact that it wasn't just another round of "suits" talking about the product.I agree. I had it on in the background. There was some interesting information in there, but it was encased in immature debased behavior. I feel like they could have brought up concerns and shared their enthusiasm for vehicles without all of the fake shitting on everything and calling people out nonsense. How many times can Jason say āfuckā or āIām torturing youā before everyone tunes out? It was very cringe.
I would argue that Cammisa is closer to an American Chris Harris. But the actual Hagerty videos he makes (not the podcast) are some of the best car entertainment/review content available today and *very* well produced. For those who are enthusiasts, but don't know who Cammisa is... Without the advanced age and international following, he is about as close to American version of Jeremy Clarkson as we get (but with way more mechanical knowledge). The man lives and breathes cars and have sampled lots of cars at all price ranges. When he says the R2 is close to perfection, it's not a light comment.
Are you griping about his hatred of the Cybertruck? He makes no bones about disliking that vehicle and it's not anti-Tesla either because he also made a great video about the Model S and how we really owe the state of modern EVs to what Tesla pioneered with that car. He daily drivers a VW eGolf...he's not an EV hater by any means.I like Jason enough. He has not gone too far off the deep end with the anti-EV and anti-technology stance some other publishers have taken, but he still makes comments that get a eye roll out of me occasionally. I found him a little more annoying than usual here but his praise is genuine and speaks highly of the R2 in a way that feels moderately balanced.
Yeah, not at all what I meant. Quite the opposite actually. Not sure if you meant to comment back to someone else who mentioned his dislike towards the Cybertruck. I actually had no idea he said anything about it before his post. If anything, I found his review of the new Model Y Performance pretty refreshing. He said very similar things to it like he said about the R2 (and I agreed then). It was more about the car reviewers becoming anti-EV and specially anti-Tesla (cough cough Edmunds), but no, Camissa gets it. The incessant reminders of lack of Carplay or physical buttons though is just played out, which is more of my gripe and he participates in as well. Are you griping about his hatred of the Cybertruck?
