The R1T can be used as a firewood getter - I'm an offgrid homeowner who heats with wood. New video on tips, cautions, and a fun test of regenerative braking by ascending empty and descending loaded. Cheers

HEY ! I'm off-grid too ! (That travel trailer in the photo is not what I'm living in) From hauling solar panels, to wood, the truck has been amazing. I actually use the 110V power to trickle charge the home batteries on those solarless/windless days. I do heat with wood normally, but last winter I decided to see how I could survive on just the mini-split. The last winter was fairly mild for us and it actually was not bad. I think I only ran the generator about 5x's total for a couple of hours each.

now there is a tall load of wood!
Are you running your mini-split off of solar and your own wind turbine(s)?

Yep. I have 8kw of panels and 30kwh of battery. DC solar well pump. Use propane for instant hot water.

very cool. I have 14kW of solar, 28kWh of battery, but yes propane does the water heating and cooking

I use wood for a grill, but induction for stove top. I'm at the 45th parallel so my solar input is likely a bit above yours considering your higher latitude. I've thought about adding more panels, but I'd have to add more battery too and I'd want to go enough to be able to charge the truck some with the overage. Right now, that doesn't pencil well for me.

When I pick up firewood, I've had various conversations ranging from "you sure you can put all this in a plastic bed" to "oh, since you have a plastic bed, is it ok if we just throw it?"

Nice windmill. How many watts? (Obviously wind dependant).
2kw. The peak I've seen is 1.3kw . It's only 30ft off elevation. I would need to go higher. I just wanted some nighttime supplemental

Wired, I'm off the grid hauling wood with my R1T, but nobody talks to me :( and I don't have time to make videos of hauling wood. :(

Oh well, back to it then.

Shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that a truck can haul wood. It can’t do a lot of it with a small bed and low(ish) payload but there’s no reason to not make it work for a living.
