Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
Wonder what it has to sell at to break even? $65k?
The current highest bid is $60K as of 7/17/26. That would cover the model w/ launch package and the optional paint, but not destination and taxes.

I wonder if this is the same guy that wanted $77K+ for his R2 that he bought as a “gift”? No, wait, that was the Half Moon Grey color.

This is supposed to be an affordable Rivian, not an exclusive one-of-kind Porsche that runs on unicorn farts. 🤣

Don’t know about any of that, but my choice would be:
1-$60k for 2023 Quad Motor
2-$60k for 2026 DM Standard
3-$59k for R2

2023 QM is best bang for the buck
Out of warranty 2023 R1? Hard pass for me.
Huge LFP pack issues so they discontinued the model? Hard pass for me.

Looking at $5k per wheel to fix the air suspension that has had a bunch of issues, not to mention everything else.

To each his own.

Yup! I was **this close** to getting a used R1T, but common sense kicked in on issues surrounding the air suspension and half shafts. Not something I want to deal with out of warranty.

Fwiw, you can get a '23 R1T quad with a year of warranty left and under max warranty miles for ~$45k. A XCare 3-yr ext warranty for $5-6k. If a truck and/or more off-road capability fits your use case, that's a great deal and covers warranty cost concerns for years to come. Not to mention better interior, quicker, and meridian sound.

R2 LE is nice, but a used R1T can be a solid choice and cost less.

Not sure where in the world you're seeing a $45k 2023 R1T Quad that is still under warranty. They're minimum $60k and more like $65k currently.

Funny, bought my '23 R1T Quad this spring w/48k miles, 15months of warranty left, in excellent shape, with commai.ai already installed. $43k.

Where? There's 20ish on CarMax rn and the lowest is $61k. Doesn't make sense logically.
In the past, I have seen used dealers who have no clue what they're doing, selling these for bonkers prices, both high and low. Might have just lucked out in that way?

When I bought my 23 R1S Dual Large Performance with 10k miles on it, the "used luxury" dealer in town had it posted before it was even offloaded from the hauler and I bought it before it ever even made it into their shop and detailed or inspected, ended up getting it for far lower than market at the time because of their unfamiliarity.
