-Plop down 1k for a car that they dont have
-waiting months if not years already for car they dont have
-no timeline for delivery for the car they dont have and put down $1000 for
-a car that will have fit and finish problems (youtube review) like Tesla that has been at it for years
-railing against legacy car makers like it's a fashion statement
-meanwhile legacy car makers wont have any of the fit and finish problems
-now price increased by $12 -20k for a car that they dont have, with a car company that has no reputation or history to lend any trust in.

No thanks Rivian. PLENTY of OPTIONS coming soon from legacy car makers with a reputation to maintain.

For those who cant wait to drive the newest, latest greatest...and willing to take this chance on this fly by night car....sucks to be you.

I would rather spend my $80000 on a company thats been making cars for over 80 yrs.

Well, I'm now glad that I didn't cancel my lightning reservation. I'm also now reconsidering the Ford Maverick, which would fit in my garage.

I'm not canceling my R1T reservation yet, but the price increase is hard to deal with. $76K was already a stretch, but I really want the performance of the R1T. At $10K more, I'm not sure the value is there for me now. All this is only part of the issue. My feelings about the Rivian company have been been mirrored by their stock price.

I'm out and just placed an order for a Defender 90 - final build came in at $2K less and guess what, the $1000 deposit provides PRICE PROTECTION! They will not gouge me after the fact. That is how you build customer loyalty. Rivian should be considered click bait.

Take a start up and brand it environmental and responsible to draw in a tech savvy and vocal community to provide you with 4 years and $100mill of free advertising, advocacy, exposure and marketing free of charge. Deliver nothing tangible to them in 4 years till you execute an IPO and then swap out the community based supporters for institutional investors while still really having delivered nothing. Genius!

What I find humorous is to see just how many EV fanboys, who have talked all kinds of crap on ICE vehicles, are now running back to ICE without a second thought now that Rivian bitch slapped them. But yeah, I get it. Not like there's a ton of options out there at the moment if you want an EV truck.

I love everything about the new Defenders.....except for the reliability. There are just too many nightmare stories with those vehicles and I'm not really crazy about taking that chance. Sure, it comes with a warranty, but I'd rather be driving my vehicle instead of a loaner vehicle.

I followed TFL Truck's disaster with the Defender they purchased and then again with the replacement Defender. But who knows....I guess someone has to be the lucky one and someone has to be unlucky too.

I don't know....maybe I"d still take the chance on one, but it's definitely not something I'd look to keeping beyond the warranty period for sure.

How I wish the BMW X7 was an EV !

Have you looked at the X5 PHEV. It's not a 7-seater, but it's well specced.

I am personally considering it as an option along with the iX M50

As a former Land Rover Mechanical Engineer. I'll buy that extended warranty.
