Took a test drive last week. Unfortunately, the route provided was very short and did not have any highway speeds….everything was under 45mph.

At the end of the route we noticed an annoying squeak from inside the cabin. I traced it to the front right suspension/tie rod. If you rocked the steering wheel it would make noise. I have attached a video.
For reference, the R2 had about 1100 miles.

Was this a white R2 used for test drives out of the Tyson's Corner showroom by chance? I was there over the weekend and I overheard someone mention something about a squeaking sound when they were returning their key. I got to test drive the CC and that R2 had no issues from what I could tell.

Hopefully you passed that along to the staff there so that it can get looked at.

What did you think of it otherwise?

I did and shared the videos from both the interior and exterior(as posted).

They were appreciative of the info and said they would get it “looked at”.

I enjoyed the car, I thought the visibility was exceptionally good. I’m 6’2” and was very comfortable.

I’m on a Nov/Dec order date. I’m happy to have time to decide. It will be our “extra” car if we decide to buy it.
We want something that doesn’t need “service”. I can do my own tire rotations etc. I have been down the 1st model year mistake before so I am hesitant to break my rule of “never buy the 1st model year”.

As I said…..i have time to decide and do more research

It’s a super cool car for sure and checks many boxes for us.

Funny, I’m a don’t buy first year person as well. Yet I have a vin 1663 R1S and a vin 1915 R2. 🤷🏼‍♂️

3.5 years 53k miles on the R1S, have had great luck with it. Only had the R2 for 2 weeks but I have no concerns, you can really see the difference in the initial build quality in the R2.

My test drive is today at 11:15a in Costa Mesa CA. My deliver date is I believe Dec/Jan. If I like it and am range satisfied, I’ll put off getting it about a year to 15 months. I like my Q8 Etron and its warranty is up 1/28. From what I read, putting off delivery doesn’t move you to the back of the line?

I was told that once you place your order your place in line has obviously changed. You now are not in the reservation "waiting line" anymore. You are now in the production line. If you decide to change your order (e.g. color change, etc.) you then get bounced from production and back to the "waiting line"... at the end. My rep said be sure you have your parameters in order before you order.

There will most likely be a lot of cars in inventory by then, so you probably won't even need a reservation. However, their site says you can keep a reservation indefinitely. They will be happy to hold on to your deposit.

I drove the R2 yesterday. The guru who showed me the car and answered all my questions was knowledgeable and straight forward. They let me take it alone, said be back in half an hour. He also told me that the Premium model with White/Costal Cloud with a spare and tow package would be $58k plus delivery, T & L. The Launch edition was absolutely crazy fast. I think the extra range in the Premium (get to 275 miles @75mph?) and 0-60 in 4.5 seconds is a better choice for me. Not much to otherwise not like about the car. Checks 95% of the boxes for me. I’ll still drive the iX3.
