Yes but a bit of a hassle if it happens to involve a Rivian trade-in.

As an FYI. I inquired about this potential issue yesterday. The CS rep I spoke with said that I could delay delivery when I get the first call, until I get a test drive. Important to note that he said once I was ready to move forward with purchasing (presumably after the test drive), I could let my guide know and I would be placed at the front of the line, not the back, and would be assigned the next vehicle built that matched my specifications.

My only hesitation personally is that i'm 6'5 and might have headroom issues. With that said, I owned a Silverado for a while and didn't have any issues with it and the internal dimensions seem similar enough that I'm hoping I'll have no issues. We'll see
A visit to the Venice Hub would address that. I know, not exactly a cheap answer for the majority here who don't fly for free.

For me it just comes back to the fact that there are 8+ R1Ts sitting a few miles from me. Why can't I drive one for 15 minutes? I can go to the Aston Martin dealership and they'll toss me the keys, but even with an 01/19 deposit I can't get in a Rivian?

I get not doing the mobile test drives, but they have service centers active. Let people with very soon delivery windows schedule a time to go to a service center and hop in.

It's bizarre to me.

To those wanting a test drive: are you seeking to "test" specific things about the vehicle? Or is it more about general unanticipated concerns that might be dealbreakers?

Personally I would love a test drive just to see how it feels driving the largest and fastest vehicle I've been in. I would settle for a walk/crawl-around in an R1S even if I can't drive one. My biggest concern is whether I'll be comfortable driving and parking a large vehicle, but I could always test drive an equivalent ICE vehicle to get a sense for that.

I'm 6'1" and I'd say there was still ample room for another 4 inches of legs/torso when I sat in it without even coming close to bumping a head or knocking some knees.

I have he opposite problem, I'm only 5'6", but I wouldn't keep one till I test drive one (be it at a center or for those 7 days). Now if I can only get Rivian to F'ing come to or near Florida! ?

When you go to the AM dealer and get those keys, you're getting keys to a vehicle that isn't, ostensibly, already sold.

If you show up at the Rivian SC, you're going to be asking to test drive a vehicle that's basically already sold.

I don't want you adding miles to my R1T ?

That said, I had your similar test drive experience. They opened them and despite being an LE holder, I couldn't get a slot before they were all filled. I sent them a nasty-gram and the next day they opened more slots and got me scheduled.

They may not be doing any more test drives in the area, but if they are, reach out to them if you haven't already.

Also, keep in mind, there may be local forum members taking delivery that would be willing to meet up and allow others to see and sit in their vehicle. I wouldn't press for a test drive but for viewing colors, headroom concerns, 3rd row access, etc it's a potential option.

It'll be a few months before I've got mine though :(

Did I miss a post suggesting to visit to a SC or were you responding to my comment about the display vehicles at the Venice Hub (which is not a SC and also doesn't offer test drives)?

Fore me, returning isn't really a viable option if it adds 2 years to my delivery timing, or results in never getting an LE variant. I'd just like some sort of hands on experience before finalizing colors and wheel choices.

They are doing mobile test drives. I did one 3 weeks ago. I also asked about visiting a service center just to see different colors in person, and they told me that could be arranged when I get closer to delivery.

I was explaining to Taycanfrank the difference between a test drive at an Aston Martin dealership vs at the Rivian SC.
