Some of my key takeaways:

• Really like the amount of feedback the steering wheel gives. The responsiveness is closer to a Porsche than to a Pick-up.
• Had to be a little careful with acceleration due to the road conditions and not being able to switch to sport mode due to it, but nonetheless this thing is faster and more planted than my Cayenne GTS ever was and could have easily kept up with my 911 as well.
• I've never been a truck fan, but I honestly forgot I was driving one within the first 3 minutes of the drive.

Very glad to see this kind of feedback from someone who actually has a sports car and sportier SUV.

I just reached out to CS and got a test drive tomorrow at 9 am in Golden ...my first Rivian permagrin. I have a June/July R1S LE reservation...SOOOOO excited...hope the snowstorm isn't too bad tonight...or maybe I should so I can try drift mode on my street

2 questions: Are they coming to you? did you call them in Denver or did you do online chat or something? I have a R1S order march/april and would like my wife to get a chance to see how it drives sooner rather than later

I messaged them on the chat and they offered me two open times. They came to my house. I tried three times to get the test drive and third time was the charm. you have the earliest R1S delivery slot I have heard of...exciting.

yeah, i signed up during LA auto show when they announced so im pretty close to the beginning. No word yet but when I spoke to CS on the 1st, to voice my displeasure over the rate increase, they said I was still looking good for my march/april timeline.

That's fantastic! Sounds like you'll likely have one of the first R1S's in the country. Keep your Colorado peeps in the loop with the process and your first impressions if you can!

Stumbled on this post and didn't realize how lucky I was to get a first drive invite via email. I have my test drive tomorrow afternoon!

Really looking forward to seeing th car since I'm not 100% sure I'll buy it. I need a 2nd car and the 2023 Chevy Colorado sounds pretty good for a much cheaper price.

I know. I feel the same way. All the things that make it special I already knew It's fast, it's pretty.

Biggest takeaways for me:

• The suspension is just so, so good. Soaked up all the bumps, yet cornered like it was on rails
• The quality of the interior is exceptional. Nice stitching, soft materials, fantastic looking wood accents
• Seats are very comfortable
• I'm 6'2"+, and while I could fit behind myself driving, I wouldn't want to be back there very long. Otherwise, the back seats were very comfortable if I were a more normal person
• It's really quiet. And the sound it makes when accelerating is very futuristic rocket-ship sounding
• Denver weather sucks this time of year, and makes it very unpleasant to look at cars outside
• Bed cover was quieter than expected, based on videos
• Rear camera still kinda sucks, but it's not terrible. 360 view was very nice.
• Sound system is very good, but not as utterly amazing as some reviewers had led me to believe. Slightly disappointing.
• Spotify was misbehaving on the center console. Searching didn't work and was just generally messed up. I'm assuming this is a one-off that would be fixed.
• I want mine. And I want it now. And waiting will now be even harder than before.

Your last point pretty much says it all!

I have a feeling once you have a chance to fiddle with the stereo settings you can probably dial in the sound you want. Seems like a pretty versatile system after watching Kyle's 30 minute long infotainment video.

Also, there's a gazillion R1Ts at the service center right now. They have more trucks than parking spots, so they're having to store some inside now, and along the sides of the building. Was told they're receiving up to 3 truckloads of new R1Ts every day.

I'm not surprised CO is a hot spot for Rivian. Someday after they release lower priced options they might proliferate like Subarus around here....

I might head down there Thursday and check out the inventory. Last time I went by there was just 3 employee trucks there, which was still cool but....
