My living room and kitchen are above my garage. The truck auto unlocks and locks constantly. It is frustrating.
Also my bracelet does not work. I have a service request in for this so hopefully they can address it.
Are you sure you're using it right? I uploaded this video today on how it works cause it's not super obvious. Hope it helps.

THIS!!!

Whatever patent Ford has on this feature is a solid advantage for them. I’ve had the door keypad on my last 2 F150s and it’s going to be very difficult to give up.

The Internet can flame me for this one, but I leave my key (it’s a physical key - 2013 model) in my truck 90% of the time and unlock it with the keypad. The wristband will more or less offer the same functionality for me. I guess I’ll wear that full-time? It would be cool to have that functionality built into an Apple Watch band (or hell even work with NFC on the watch itself).
So if someone breaks into your truck they can just push start and drive away?

Instead of turning BT off completely, can't you just disconnect the bluetooth connection with the R1T? None of these workarounds are ideal, but you could still use BT for all those other devices.

I didn't realize this was such a problem until today when I was working on getting my bike mounted adn yes, the lock/unlock was annoying. Good thing the truck is so amazing otherwise.

The auto lock and unlock feature is easily disabled using the vehicle menus... Correct?

This seems like an infinitely better solution to everyone's problem than putting phones in faraday bags, turning off Bluetooth, etc.

This doesn't have to be as complicated as people are making it.

I assure you the proximity unlock issues with phones are common in other vehicles too. Just ask antibody with a Ford with the PAAK (phone-as-a-key) feature.

The big advantage of the other companies, such as Ford and Chrysler/Fiat/Stellantis, is that they have enabled their key fobs to unlock the cars using a combination of touch and proximity. This is the ideal solution for many people. It lets drivers unlock their cars when they approach without taking out the fob and pressing buttons while simultaneously preventing the car from unlocking every time you get within range of your car while it sits in your garage or driveway.

I have yet to see a car maker find a way to enable PAAK without creating a host of problems.

As far as I have found there is no feature to disable auto lock/unlock in the R1T menu or app. Only option is to delete phone key from the Rivian app, you can still use Bluetooth music but can no longer turn on the HVAC or remotely lock/unlock.

I stand corrected - Thanks @godfodder0901

I will re-enable my phone key after I finish my idle battery drain test

Yeah... That's going to be a big problem for most people. I didn't realize this.

At least a quick software update could add a way to disable this feature for outside who don't like it.

How long did it take for you to get the wristband? I was told it would get here a week or two. I was only given the 2 key cards and the carabiner key during delivery.

Same here. I have asked my guide a couple times about that and my accessories, and haven’t gotten a specific answer.

You can 100% disable this in the current software right now.

The other option (at least on iOS) is to disable bluetooth just for the Rivian App (I am assuming that app is what acts as PAAK).

No need to disable bluetooth completely, just for the single app.

To do this you go to Settings -> Privacy -> Bluetooth and enable / disable specific apps

Hmm... Then I'm back to where I started. I have no idea why people are suggesting faraday bags or disabling Bluetooth when there is a much better solution.

Rivian owners who don't like the vehicle unlocking when they don't want it to unlock can simply disable the auto unlock feature in the vehicle menus.

Nice video. Any chance you could measure the wristband to see how wide of wrist it will fit?

Haven't measured, but I have medium sized wrists and it is on the last notch for me. I wonder if they are thinking about offering more than one size...
