Haven't watched the video yet but I gotta think Kyle has more wheel time in an R1T than most owners at this point.

I hope they had PPF on the vehicles.
That's me/my R1T in the video. I didn't ppf it, and never will. My truck is going to get used, not kept pristine for life in a museum. :)

But seriously, I used the onboard air compressor to remove a lot of the dust and quite a few quarters to pressure wash the rest. It is mostly clean, and I'm going to remove the aero panels on the bottom later today to clean out the other bits I care about.

I tend to agree that PPF is overkill but a nice ceramic coating makes cleaning so much easier. The more you use the car, the more ceramic pays for itself, IMO.

I hope they had PPF on the vehicles.
PPF mostly protects against direct impacts (frontal). Unless they were driving for prolonged periods in the dirt behind each other, PPF won't do much.

It is my understanding the R1T already has some PPF/film right behind the front wheel well where the little air flow/opening/duct is.

Some careful washing (not rubbing the sand all over the place) will clean that right up good as new.

Ceramic is pretty cost effective too it appears.
Cost effective if you do it yourself. Most of the actual cost is in the paint correction, not the materials cost for the ceramic.

I'll most likely do at least some PPF on mine as well as ceramic, but mine will be going off-road and I don't really want the Colorado pinstripes that my 4Runner has from trails. I've previously done PPF and ceramic myself on a Corvette I had before the current one. Likewise, I did a full cut/polish on my MINI and then did ceramic when I took delivery.

Rivian was right at home. Nice to see it get to frolic in its natural habitat.

I sure hope Kyle gave you some time behind the wheel?
