This. They never seem to learn that people prefer open communication and can be understanding of delays. This first happened with the "All LE order holders will have guide contact by end of November". They waited until there were only a couple of days left in November before addressing that. They seem to be doing the same with regards to the R1S deliveries. And this is the stuff that drives me nuts about Rivian. I don’t know why they can’t just say they haven’t begun production yet, or they’re going delay a few weeks or months to tweak things. It would be no skin off my nose but telling me that I’m still in the March-April delivery window, and that the purchase process is very quick once a guide contacts me doesn’t assuage any of my concerns.
They really need to be more open and honest in their communication. I was hoping the weekly updates would be that, but we haven’t had one since two weeks ago.
I don't care if they tell me my R1S will be delayed 1-3-6 months, whatever. But at least tell me ahead of time so I can plan accordingly rather than get my hopes up until the last possible day. Even if they didn't want to commit to something make a vague statement "With things how they are we may be experiencing a delay of X-Y months on your delivery. However, we are working very hard to pull those in closer to the original window so keep your eye out for the next update".
