So I'm not sure why I didn't notice this before, but I was looking at the little icons on my reservations and noticed that the bottom line for the door crease went all the way to the rear wheel arch instead of curving up where the gear tunnel door is (because no gear tunnel)

So I decided to actually compare the two. Is it really going to stick out that much further than the doors in the pickup when they are opened?

I have to say, the nice thing about the door length in the pickup is that it's easy to have it open all the way in a tight parking lot, making it not too difficult to get my son in and out of the back seat. I'm worried the SUV might actually be harder to do this in because of the length. Anyone want to assuage my concerns?

The opening into the cabin might be wider, but the seats look to be in the same position in both vehicles.

Probably necessary to facilitate getting in the 3rd row. I’ve heard the rear doors on the truck are kind of narrow, and can be a little tricky to get in for some folks.

R1S has a shorter wheelbase…

Unless the driver plans to stay in the car, I am not sure how much of a difference it makes. the front door seem to be the same length as the rear. I find R1T rear door inconvenient.

It's going to be easier for passengers to get into the R1S. Reviewers have complained that the gear tunnel makes entry in the rear of the R1T more difficult.

As someone who never caries people in the rear of my current pickup (Chevy Colorado) the extended cab with the half-doors is perfect. And like you said above, shorter doors are easier to open in tight parking spots (I carry tools back there). Sure wish they'd make an extended cab/long bed Rivian before my reservation comes up. ?

Nice observation. That's going to be significant for 3rd row access. Here's a top view for a different perspective:

I really really wish they would tell us how much the 2nd row slides forward...

Agree. That is certainly a known spec at Rivian at this point.

I'm careful with doors. I'm not sure how careful or quick my kid(s) are going to be.

Rear doors start in the exact same spot on both trucks. Wheelbase is irrelevant.

Anyway you can do the overlay except from directly abeam so we can see diff in length and height? Spec says R1S is shorter that R1T and want to see rake of roof...TIA if you can.
