R1T Included Mobile EVSE Info

My current thinking is to install either a 240v plug for the included mobile EVSE or hardwired EVSE on the side of my house. My garage is too short for the R1T length so charging in the garage is out of question and I can't park right next to my garage so EVSE cable length is a concern. My questions:

1. Can someone who's taken delivery let me know the total length of the mobile EVSE? I believe I've seen 18'(?) but not sure if that's accurate and if that's total length or just the cable length after the black box in the photos.

2. Has anyone used the included mobile unit and gotten the quoted charging speeds from the Rivian website?

Yes the cable is 18’ from the box. I have used it at home on a 50A service and max was 16.8 miles per hour of charge time, obviously slowed as it got closer to the max charge limit.

Does it really slow down on level 2 chargers? I have never watched my Tesla go to 100% on level 2 charger but it keeps the same rate for sure past 90%.

At 44 amps my Model S will stay at 30-31 miles an hour from wherever I start to past 90%.

I have been using the Rivian Mobile EVSE for a few weeks since delivery. I already had a 14-50 plug in our garage which we use for our Tesla Model Y. In fact I have been using the Rivian mobile EVSE to charge the Tesla and the Rivian on alternate nights.

Note: A 14-50 outlet uses a 50A breaker which will output 40A continuous. The Rivian mobile EVSE (and the Tesla mobile connector) are limited to 32-34A max output. Our electric main outputs 245v and the mobile EVSE will output a max of 34A - So I am seeing about 8kWh charge rate on the mobile EVSE.

At 8kWh our Tesla Model Y will go from 50% to 75% SoC in about 2.5hrs, it takes the Rivian about 4hrs to charge from 50% to 70%.

I have purchased a hardwired charger from Emporia Energy which will wire up to a 60A breaker and output a continuous 48A, which is close to 12kWh, or a 50% faster charge.

Our EV charging rate plan with our power company allows us to charge from midnight to 6AM M-F, So if I really ran the battery down I may not have enough time to charge it back up to 70-85% in 6hrs without a 48A max output.

Long story short, you can get by with a the mobile EVSE but long term you will either want to get an 3rd party 14-50 plug charger which outputs a full 40A continuous or get a hard-wired charger for 48A continuous. The EVSE also does not feel very robust, especially compared to the Tesla Mobile Connector. So the EVSE might wear out if used daily since it's not intended for that.

Rivian shouldn't slow the rate of charge for L2 / AC charging since it will only accept up to 48A continuous. The throttling usually only happens on DC fast charging
