Hi everyone, long-time lurker, first post. I’ve had some recent movement, thought I’d summarize here.
- July 2019 R1S preorder
- changed to R1T just before configurator opened
- my current spec is LE R1T/BM/21/LG
- I have changed my spec (interior color, wheels) *dozens* of times in the past several months
- was March/April window as of Nov last year
- received generic email about meeting my guide last Friday
- got contacted Sunday. Call was yesterday.
- signed PBM yesterday
- waiting on 8-step/VIN

my guide said he is first looking for a truck in my spec at a SC. Then on the line. I told him I’m flexible but he said everything I’ve spec’d he’s seen on the line. I’ll be picking up at the normal plant.

finally… he said he’s seen BM and FE on the line. No OC.

Nice to hear you've monkey'd with your configurator as much as I have and it hasn't hampered your delivery. It always makes me nervous, but I keep changing colors.

hope you get it soon!

Thanks! That’s why I finally decided to sign up and post. Wanted you all know that you can still bide your time by tinkering!

I suppose I should say my hellos here. I was amongst the press invited out to the Breckenridge R1T off-roading event last September. Fell in love with the truck, got a second reservation (I'll probably convert to R1S for late 2022 delivery—hoping my wife will want it so we can ditch her Genesis GV80 before the market gets rational again and the value plummets).

I've got an R1T Launch Edition on order with a March-April delivery. Originally Rivian Blue with Ocean Coast, but guide advised me a couple weeks ago to switch to Black Mountain if I wanted to see it sooner. I did. Got most of the accessories (save for the rooftop tent (I'll go hard-shelled third-party)) including the kitchen.

Signed my PBA two days ago and guide told me that VIN assignment could "provide good news as soon as the end of the week" but that it might be a few weeks before I hear anything else. Wonder if production on R1T is slowing as they're allegedly trying to get R1S up and running.

They seem to be very inconsistent with how the process is handled. My first guide contact was back on March 10 and I still haven't received the PBA. I asked my guide about it and he said they would send the PBA when the VIN is assigned. That is opposite from what everyone is reporting here.
I had changed from FE to BM in order to get it faster. Now that we hear rumors of FE in production, I suspect that they are waiting to send the PBA, so I have the option of switching back to FE if one becomes available. I let him know I would be happy with either one, just get me a truck.

That's kinda what I said too; however, when I brought things up at the PBA I was like "again, I don't care which interior—I just want it the soonest I can get it. And he said something along the lines of "well, your configuration is pretty much set now and I don't have a VIN or a timeline but it should probably be soon."

Welcome! I loved your Rivian video and became a channel subscriber afterwards, I think you bring a really thoughtful perspective to all your content. Glad to have you with us!

Everything I've seen so far is the PBA➡butt-in-R1T turnaround is usually quite fast, sometimes under a week.

Wishing for a speedy delivery for you! I'm in the March/April bucket but still waiting on my PBA... going on six weeks after Guide contact ?

Thanks for the kind welcome! One frustration I've had with the process is that I don't yet have my 8-steps so I can't get a trade-in value on my current car. When I asked my guide how quick it goes from VIN-issuance to delivery he—like you stated—said it's typically pretty quick. When I said "well what if the trade-in value (even considering I/O sales tax benefits) sucks and I have to sell my car in a private sale? Will I have any time to do that at all?" And he responded with something along the lines of "well, if you're not ready, you have a few weeks before you have to take delivery." Of course, that's the last thing I want so I'm just planning to sell my car privately beforehand if I can. Erm!

Also, I wish you a speedy delivery as well! I didn't hear from my guide until about 2 weeks ago and then I got a PBA without any contact at all from my guide. I was the one that called him to ask a few questions after-the-fact. It seems everyone's experience is slightly different haha

Congrats, and welcome! Loved your video. It gave me a good look at Launch Green which I've locked on my R1S.

Yes, info is all over the place in regards to timelines from contact, to PBA to delivery. I think you're probably good to work to sell your car since you have your PBA and looking at days/or weeks to delivery.

I made the mistake of selling my car in prep for the August launch last year before the delay and have been renting and borrowing since.

Good luck, and can't wait to see more of your videos in YOUR Rivian!

Made the same mistake... sold my Model Y last Sept then found out about all the delays. I'm now scheduled for Q4 2022 delivery. I tried borrowing but frustrating so I bought a 2017 BMW i3 REX as a holdover till my R1T gets delivered. Funny thing is, we (the family) like the i3 so much we decided to keep it and sell one of the gassers when the R1T arrives.

Awesome, congrats! Any update on delivery timeline? We have the same config. I locked on 4/4, no PBA and no timeline.

So I have an R1T and R1S reservation. The S probably won't be built until 2023 (May 2021 reservation for it). My call yesterday was for the R1T. He said it could happen by the end of this month. I am trying very hard not to get my hopes up.

Man, this kind of inconsistency drives me nuts. Is my guide just not doing things right way to activate the next step? Are some guides just better at pushing things forward?

I don't think he gave me any timeline regarding PBA other than soon, and I just assumed it would be just a couple of days based upon other people posting here. Trying to be patient, don't really want to pester my guide about it yet as it hasn't quite been a week.

It does mess with your mind to watch others go from guide contact --> PBA --> delivery in a matter of a week. I've been waiting for a PBA for 45 days now; I've been googling how to read tea leaves for answers to pass the time. Hard to come down after the initial guide contact high.

I think @JEV is close to that as well.

Hopefully you aren't waiting as long as us.
