R1 issues for new owners

I just had mine delivered last week and so far it's been great. I did have a thing pop up yesterday where the seatbelt alarm would not stop going off. Turns out, it thinks there is someone in the passenger seat and when I leave the vehicle, the radio and climate/ screens won't turn off and the car won't enter "sleep mode," which drains the battery. It's not that much power, but I had to mute the radio, turn off the climate control, and lower the screen brightness to lessen the power drain. Called the service guys who were quite helpful, but seems like it's a bad sensor somewhere. On the app, you can turn on the climate/AC/heat, and this says "Disabled - occupant detected" which clued me into this issue.

Alignment issues - here is the official spec and Rivian’s first attempt at fixing it. They left the camber and caster way out and tried to tell me it’s not an issue.
Tech said he was trained to set the toe and let ‘em go….

I would also add to the window issue to include loose glass and slow/stopping windows when using auto up/down on all windows.

Door fitment issues
Hood/fender fitment issues.

Tailgate plastic trim (covers the top of the tailgate) detached when I slid something out of the bed. I reattached it but it keeps coming off. Pretty sure it will keep happening. Rivian is going to fix it.

I did some driving at highway speed over the weekend and getting a lot of wind noise at the top of the windshield, both left and right sides. It starts at about 45 mph and increases as the speed increases. Is it the same as others are describing here? Its really at the top left and righ corners of the windshield. I am not noticing misaligned gaskets.

Wait...the tonneau cover slats are supposed to lay flat??? Mine are noticeably ridged after the 2 closest to the tailgate.

Can anyone show a side profile picture of their flat tonneau cover?

Same here. Make sure to put in a service request. I had mine in and the tech seems to think that it's coming from the small window ahead of the regular side window. Ordered a replacement and waiting for that to come in. If that doesn't fix it, I will keep submitting service requests. There are other trucks out there that don't have this issue.

My wind noise is on the front passenger window and service did a leak test and discovered a faulty seal (tech showed me the video of them performing the test which was good to see). Will be replaced next week. I thought it was due to misaligned window frame and pillar but we’ll see after the seal is replaced.

Does it show where the leak is or just that there is a leak?

It was a quick video on his phone so I can’t say for sure, but what it showed was bubbling coming through the seal - believe it was along the top of the window seal - and the seal on the passenger side did look a bit off compared to the drivers side seal initially.

Great effort! Having a consolidated list is a really useful tool, and is essential when you are working with the order online business model where you can't inspect your truck in advance, or choose it off a dealer's lot.

I took delivery of my Tesla Model S in November 2021 and used the detailed checklist available from one of the Tesla forums. There is even a mobile phone app that follows the checklist and lets you take and save photos. Thankfully, other than a few scratches that probably occurred during the delivery process, I was able to confirm that my S did not have the problems others had experienced.

Hopefully, we won't need anything that exhaustive for Rivian once the early production glitches get worked out.

Delivered on 5.28.2022 - Tonneau stopped working on Day #2.....it was running really rough - then got stuck and sounded like a cable snapped - now stuck about 1/3 closed....service ticket initiated. Also some paint issues on both gear tunnel doors and some very minor fitment and panel gaps noticed.
