Doesn't look like we are getting any updates today.

here’s a fun distraction from the lack of news: per transport canada, it’d be legal to do factory pickup!
All you’d need is to import is Form 1(which for a new car that complies with CMVSS is basically just a checkbox that says the vehicle is compliant with CMVSS), and GST to be paid at importation. And, since it would be brand new, no provincial inspection required to register.

the only wrinkle is US CBP requires 72hrs notice of an export. But this is a painless process if you have things in order.

You'd have to get Rivian to sell you one though and have all the French labels as well.

I don’t mean go get a US model right now - those do not conform to CMVSS, as rivian is not yet approved to affix the National Safety Mark.

I mean it ought to be possible to take delivery of one’s Canadian specification rivian from the factory when the time comes, and import it as an individual, since the current wording of the rules permits this expressly.

Well... its now mid May, still zero news outside of a single guide and a few Vancouver hires. Any of the more optimistic members here care to cheer me up and convince me there is a chance that some of the July-Sept windows could still be met? I am still thinking only a few token RIT deliveries in 2022... in Vancouver only... if we are lucky. At this point, LE R1S deliveries to Canada are moving to not before next summer IMO.

we don’t know the number of Canadian orders. I suspect it isn’t a big number.

For now it seems to mostly hinge on TC approval. I wonder what the hold up there is, since it is a straightforward process if you have a product designed to conform from the outset.

Regarding R1S, I think it will depend on if they meet whatever their production target is for R1T before introducing more R1S into production mix.

I think TC approval is the least of our worries… But thanks for cheering me up, I think I probably had you in mind when I was talking about optimistic forum members :p

TC approval is the biggest concern. Without it, no sales.

second biggest concern is if they meet targets in the states. They won’t spare capacity for our tiny market.

I am optimistic inasmuch as I’m pretty sure an R1T will be in my garage someday.

otherwise, everything Is fucked. ?

The only positive I am seeing is their job postings have gone down significantly.

It used to be 30+, but now they have about 10 postings. They have either been hiring aggressively to scale up operations or reducing their requirements here. They also have a new posting in Toronto.

Either way, it's really disappointing to not have any news about what their plans are.

It doesn't really give any new info. But this link should work: https://archive.ph/PkT32

I am sure they are using the July date from the delivery windows sent out in Nov/Dec.
Thank you. Not as fruitful as I would hope indeed.

I wish there were even one email from the company acknowledging our existence up here. Would give me a bit of comfort that they haven’t forgotten about us.

Yeah. We still can't order from the gear shop even. Not that I think those are tied together....it just isn't reassuring they haven't even bothered to get the gear shipping here.
