Rivian is sitting on something like 17 Billion in cash, I don't think screwing over long term reservation holders for a little extra profit short term is a good business decision. We are basically at the "what's the point of the reservation system" now.

I am an earlier, though not super early reservation holder. I definitely understand the frustration. That being said, if you really want your Rivian as soon as possible, regardless of cost, I would make multiple, refundable $1000 deposits. I cringe to think what happens to the stock when so many people place deposits and then cancel them, but I strongly feel having multiple reservations will increase the odds that you will have a configuration that hits.

I'm just really frustrated that they even list one of the only advantages to the Launch edition is Priority delivery but it seems that's not even close to the case now. Sitting at 1265 days now since my order.

Next year’s cost could be lower based on today’s supply chain constraints. Lithium and nickel price have skyrocketed recently and Rivian is already considering cheaper LFP batteries for future builds. Secondly, a bump in stock price would help them hiring easier and possibly raise more money by selling stocks, offering bonds at lower rate etc.

You really think an additional $15,000 is going to make a difference? Plus people buying the quad motor truck are not getting the cheaper batteries and other costs (such as labor) will continue to increase.

The pessimist in me says that they might be ok with this since every cancelled pre-3/1 order raises the average cost of vehicle sold.
