I wouldn't want my un-armed wife charging there at night I can tell ya that! Kyle brings up some good points about safety at charging sites. You can't quickly unplug and take off if suddenly under threat. How deep is that center console again?

Kyle refers to it as an 'offshoot of the road' but that yellow line at his feet looks to be the old edge of the highway. The last time they paved the crew added a bit of slope and they just paved over it...

Some rural middle of nowhere charger is somehow worse than a dark corner of a Walmart parking lot in a sketch area (lots of those exist)

Also being close to the road is funny as an argument as the OP made in another thread, how many times have those chargers been crashed into since they were installed??

Nope, not really that close to the road.

For the record this one in Huntington OR is the oddest I have ever been too (and I have been to the charger in Bluff, UT) but not because it felt unsafe but I can imagine in the middle of the night it would have the same issues.

The oddest charger I've been to was on private property, behind an open gate with "authorized personnel only" signs posted and video cameras, and no one in sight or number to call. I was really needing a charge, and it was the only one around, other than the flea bag motel down the road who wanted 20 bucks to use it and I'd have had to wait for some other desperate fellow in front of me to finish, so I called Chargepoint (who listed it) and described the situation, and they said they had a note it was available for public use and to call them back if there was any hassle. In I went, to an empty builders training center, plugged in, walked over to the shady front porch, sat in the rocking chair starting out at the trees and took a nap for a couple of hours while sipping some electrons (and a Coke). No one gave me any issues.

I find him so annoying. Not sure why. Like nails on a chalkboard. Even more so given his quick turn from order to delivery.

I’d be less concerned about the chargers and more concerned about the people between the chargers and the roadway but that’s just me. At the least, when a semi goes by you’re in the vortex. The splash zone for rain. Does it snow there? Plow drivers must love that…

At least Utah has no drunk drivers ? so safe there…

I mean if you are going to park next to the charger blocking access to the other charger then yeah maybe, when I was there I parallel parked next to the fence in front of the charger.

? I would agree dark corners of Walmart parking lots are worse! I would never want my wife charging there alone at night…or day. Sitting duck. But I’ve seen some of the biggest odd-balls in Whole Foods parking lots, so you can’t win.

@Gator42

Since you started this thread, let's hear your opinion on the oddest charger you have ever charged your EV at? You seem to have an unhealthy obsession with the Bluff, UT charger based on a video you saw of someone charging in pitch darkness, so I think we would all like to know what is the most odd location you have charged at?

If you have ever been to Bluff, UT, or driven down hwy 191 in eastern Utah, a person is just thankful the State of Utah installed and supports the chargers in the region. Plugshare bares that sentiment out.

Leave this topic alone since your knowledge and credibility on the subject is non-existent. Give it a rest.

Meth is a helluva drug in small town America, or oxy, it's really gotten worse. Sure there are bad Walmarts too but lots of areas are pretty bad, especially when the Sherriff/police are an hour away.

So are a pack of coyotes, too. too many people tossing trash/food out while boondocking and animals are opportunistic.

I watch on 2x speed, so I'm assuming what you're hearing is his machine gun laugh, which to many people is annoying.

That being said, the only concern I'd have about that spot is that there is nothing to keep an idiot who is focusing on your green flashing front end to driving right into it off of that highway. I mean people do it into police cars with flashing lights, and highway trucks in construction, so why not a big green flashing bar....
