That checks out as it's ~150% more towing power with both trucks compared to their SUV conterpart and the wheelbase increase is a bit more from the Tahoe (121") to Silverado (139.5") vs R1S (121") to R1T (135.8").This is not uncommon. Compare Tahoe (~8600 lbs) and Silverado (~12,500 lbs). My quoted figures are a few years out of date but should convey the point.
Weird to me though how the R1S has about the same wheelbase as the Tahoe (8600lbs towing) and Navigator (9000lbs towing), is 1000lbs heavier and has 900-1300lbs less on towing capacity.
I'd also prefer to keep the weight down, but just surprised that the R1S it is rated at 15% less capacity than the same wheelbase Navigator that is 1000lbs lighter. ?‍My earliest recollection has always been 7,700 lb but I am not an early reservation holder. the way I look at it, is that I wouldn't want to tow something too much heavier than the vehicle so I am OK with R1S keeping me in line. That said, I would love one of their engineers explaining what goes in making that determination.
