First look at @ “Introducing the R1 Shop” -- Rivian website to shop for R1T that delivers in 6-8 weeks

Man, if this is true that’s really disappointing for people who have guides but no truck and further supports the theory that Rivian is straight up ignoring those people. I would love to hear what Rivians thought process is on how long a truck sits in the shop before they’re willing to assign it to someone with a guide. I’d also love to know how many hold outs there are with R1 Shop access are waiting for their “perfect“ build. Numbers we’ll never see of course, but I’m curious nonetheless.

Anyone on the east coast with shop access around to share a screenshot? Near NC/VA?

July 2019 preorder here. Anticipated deliver Aug-Sep 2022. Finally received Shop access today.

My configuration was locked in June 2022 after talking with my guide, but after receiving shop access, the configuration is no longer locked/confirmed. Did this happen to others as well or do I need to contact my guide to lock the configuration again so that my truck is still in line for production?

BTW Only truck available currently in Dallas, Tx is a Rivian Blue/FE/20"Dark.

Wow that's interesting as I would have thought you would see all the "factory floor" ones as well.

Out of curiosity how does it have underbody shield?

Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to see factory floor options. I am assuming this is an abandoned truck at Dallas service center since it seems different from other shops.... No underbody shield.

It can’t be sitting in Dallas as they’d have to ship it out of state so you can purchase it and then ship it back. It’s probably the last truck on a car hauler coming to Texas and they can’t enter the state until it’s sold.

I think it means that RIVIAN is giving you the freedom to choose another vehicle that you may like as much as your original order, but with the option of ordering it and getting your truck sooner.

Check out your options in the Shop ASAP, and choose an alternative if your want. Then call your guide to verify. But don't dally unless you decide to stay the course.

@sickhews @Jayhox so are we seeing possibly a "trend" of exceeding the 4-8 weeks delivery promise by guides? From what I can see signature wise, you guys don't seem to have a complicated configuration, why not just grab one that's close from the Shop? Am I way off here?

I look at the shop regularly, but I really want the 20" wheels. Those have been sparse in my time in the shop. I have a little flexibility on color, but I'm not going to stray too far from my top couple choices. Additionally, I'm not personally interested in the Forest Edge interior for my preferred exterior color.

My guide is insistent that I can’t get shop access (and he’s told me he confirmed it with his “lead” as well.)

If I could get access I would likely have had a truck by now, I’m not too picky / concerned with the details of my config.

Yep I completely agree. I definitely understand their strategy of wanting to give those super early preorder holders the chance to get a truck with a different config sooner, but I feel like a lot of those folks have their heart set on their config with no way to communicate that to Rivian.

While I am always saddened to hear about layoffs, the one person I hope they lay off is the person whose job it is to sit around and figure out how to inflict maximum pain on us poor forum folk.

Here we are hanging on every word and move they make, trying to bring some logic & understanding to the process so that we can manage our expectations. And just when we think we've figured it out - color, wheels, interior, geography, combination of any of these, etc. - they change it up again.

Would you also ask about the underbody shield? Lots of questions as to whether or not that is delaying delivery.

I got info back from my guide and she said the underbody shield was not causing delays issues. I haven't seen many configs in the R1 Shop with underbody shield but maybe they are directing all of those to reservation holders. Anyway, good to know that this add on doesn't seem to be a delay issue currently.
