Delays....constant Delays

Very true. Sometimes the best option is just leaving it to the aftermarket. I have a feeling there will be a pretty strong market for Rivian accessories as time goes on. And as you said, people can customize their vehicles that way. I love that about my Tacoma. This is why it makes sense to not include it, because immediately there is a difference in opinion on what it should be from two different owners. And they can't offer both options at this stage in their life. Down the road, perhaps, but not now. Better to leave it to owners to do what they want aftermarket and make their life easier. Offering either won't lead to more revenue, so it's just cost and complexity for no benefit right now. When they are more mature, they can charge for it as an option.
It's sort of similar to the center floor storage area. People say there should be organization there, and then immediately there are 100 different opinions/solutions for what that means, including some that want to leave it as is. Which leaves the best option being a blank slate for people to do what they wish.
For Apps, we're still in the first inning of the game on that so give it time. It's legacy thinking to expect vehicles to be delivered as finished products these days. They've already said there is much more to come there. Down the road the following have all been mentioned by them as possibilities/stuff they are working on: more music apps, video streaming apps, off road nav apps (either licensed or owner crowdsourced).IMO, I think the biggest miss is the apps on the infotainment center. The normal person these days has a million apps on their phone or other personal devices. To this point the fact there's only two app's on there (Spotify & Tune-in) is just a head scratcher to me. Close behind the lack of app's miss is the tonneau cover. I get they wanted to get as many trucks out as quick as possible, but putting out a product that you know is extremely flawed and will need to be physically altered in the near future just seems like a WTF are you thinking moment..
You can have retractable steps that also provide underside protection. Rock Slide engineering already makes them.Honestly your retractable steps might be useful to more owners - the majority of Rivian owners probably won’t be doing heavy off roading. I guess this is why many manufacturers offer convenience packages vs off road packages.
Although I’ve personally always found truck steps (of any style) to be useless without a handle inside to help with actually turning to sit in the seat.
I'd much rather have the "kneel mode" that has been discussed than steps or sliders. It would be great if they would add the option to have the truck automatically drop to "lowest" when you put it in Park.I absolutely don't want running boards like that. I don't see a need for them, the truck isn't that difficult to get into, even in the highest setting. I *would* like rock sliders that don't get in the way though.
I like the way they designed those. I’m not saying they aren’t worth the price, but for $2600+ I would probably just get regular fixed slider steps. You can have retractable steps that also provide underside protection. Rock Slide engineering already makes them.
Kneel mode on the roadmap for implementation.I'd much rather have the "kneel mode" that has been discussed than steps or sliders. It would be great if they would add the option to have the truck automatically drop to "lowest" when you put it in Park.
Well, I'd wager this would be an option and not standard. As for not hard to get into, I'm a skinny, fit dude and have never had a problem with any vehicle, period. But I'm not single, I have a family, parents, etc.I absolutely don't want running boards like that. I don't see a need for them, the truck isn't that difficult to get into, even in the highest setting. I *would* like rock sliders that don't get in the way though.
Agreed. Another "unforgivable" and "off the shelf" piece of engineering in comparison the other stuff they're messing with. Another thing that looks absolutely silly to see them wasting time on camp kitchens and whatnot to not have at release.Winch bumper that they have taunted us with.
You know - if they just had industry-standard phone integration that I could find on a new $20k car it wouldn't be a problem, they can take as long as they want.... That's the biggest miss outside physical design for sure. For Apps, we're still in the first inning of the game on that so give it time.
