Any R1S pre-orders hear from guides recently?

7/8 steps complete, my guide basically avoids me and doesn't communicate but also is very fast in getting me what I want (8-step) no frills. I dig it.

Just curious - how did you complete 7 steps already? I know others have written about competing all steps pretty quickly, but for me personally, I'm still waiting on an R1 Shop order placed on 8/8. I'm holding out on Step 4 because I don't want to insure a car I neither own nor have a delivery date scheduled. My insurer said to call them once I have delivery date and they can issue a policy and proof of insurance within the hour.

Same for Step 7. I don't plan on giving Rivian any more money until I have a delivery date scheduled, so I'm holding out until Step 8 opens up.

Did you go ahead and insure the car already and put down a full or down payment?

Funny, I went from absolutely no guide contact, not even a single email from Rivian to paperwork completed truck on its way for Sept - Oct delivery. Crazy happy. Two days ago I was crazy frustrated

Just curious, Nov 2020 is when the configurator opened, is that when you put your deposit down as well for the pre-order? Seems like with the R1S they have been honoring the pre-order dates more than with the R1T but that makes your delivery an anomaly if you placed your deposit in 11/2020.

Insurance: set a future date for policy enforcement (one week from now or etc, move it if your delivery was delayed).

Payment: I used Rivian Financing because I didn't want to deal with any issues like them not giving a car and payments start etc. I'll re-fi with better rates anyways in up coming months WHEN my tags are squared away.

My payment will start iirc when delivery is scheduled AFAIK.

Timing financing can be tricky via 3rd party. My guide said not to apply for financing right away since a delivery date was unknown and an offer and rate could expire before delivery. I can see how Rivian financing is much more convenient.

Once I sold my Model S, I realized I could pay in full so no financing for me (although that was the original plan), but Rivian isn't getting a penny more from me until a delivery date is scheduled. This again leads me back to waiting for Step 8 to open.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I was seriously confused how people were finishing up Steps 1 to 7 so fast and so early prior to delivery.

Haha yeap I knew going in what my plan would be, I could do ACH Trasnfer or a 3rd party loan my self as well but its basically 0 penalty to use Rivian to get the ball rolling and it helps secure your vehicle in the event of something crappy happening (damaged, etc). I would never pay in full or a 3rd party loan because of so many unknown variables etc. just food for thought in terms of risk mitigation.

Yes very very curious myself as I put my deposit down 9/2020. Just don't want to add getting some hope up.

That’s a fantastic turnaround time on order to delivery! My preorder is a full 2 years earlier and still not a peep on config or delivery. Bay Area Le/bm/20at. Definitely won the lottery congrats!

I also received the “Build Confirmation” email yesterday. When I went to confirm I noticed a guide was finally assigned, though neither of us have reached out to each other yet.

I’m at step 2 of the 8 step now, waiting on a trade in estimate. I’m trading my Model 3. In an interesting bit, they had me submit a pic of the options in the UI of the Tesla, so it looks like they account for things beyond just trim level (I have the FSD computer which is now an insane addon, let’s see how the quote is).

For what it’s worth, I never changed my config since the configurator went live, aside from adding and later removing the charger.
