BTW, if you don’t like your hitch banging around in storage, you can always buy some foam blocks like these and cut them to shape.

Wrap in dirty towel with cord/adapter, put under seat....done. Next?

In my garage because I haven't envisioned a scenario where I suddenly need a tow hitch out of the blue.

What am I missing? Why would one carry it in the truck?

I don't have it all the time, but if I think I need it, it goes in the bottom of the frunk with the recovery equipment in a bag.

I used to keep my tire deflators in that bag too, but they fit perfectly in the Rivian air compressor bag in the gear tunnel door.

That looks like a good bag. Any chance you’d be willing to share some pix of how it fits in sub-frunk and under seat bench?

I have a “Will it Fit?” thread: (I am interested in the bag and not just spamming my thread)

https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/will-it-fit.7523

I keep one of these in the sub-frunk with a hitch ball, elastic recovery rope, ratchet straps/tiedowns and some other tools: Tamarin Trunk | STEP 22 Gear Adventure Travel Gear Bag. Also fits great under the rear seat if I need to shuffle things around.

I also have Rivian's recovery kit for when I'm planning to go offroad, which I stash in the gear tunnel.

I carried mine when I had a SUV. If I bought something big, I headed directly to uhaul to rent a trailer instead of back home first.

Then I bought a trailer…and left the hitch home with the trailer.

Then I bought a truck and Ive never needed it with the vehicle since.

I leave mine with the trailer unless I was just towing something and it’s still on the truck because I was too lazy to take it off.
