Congrats Man! Sorry you missed Cars and Coffee. I hope to see you at the next one on the 1st Saturday of October. You shoulda been there, you could have watched me break my tonneau cover.

Anyways, that’s a damn good looking SUV. I’m jealous of the Launch Green color.
Sorry I missed you breaking stuff. I really like the Blue as well. How many Rivian's were there?

I don’t think at this point anyone is responsible for breaking that thing. All you have to do is look at it. Hopefully it is stuck open!

Couldn't mobile service come out and open it up for you? Or are they really that swamped that it will be quicker to wait for the redesigned tonneau?

I don’t know. BUT I figured a few things out. I pressed the 1st panel all the way in so it could be pressed down into the spring loaded storage container. I then shoved the other panels into the slot, but not too hard. Pressing the button let the cover open half way.

I’m updating the firmware right now. After that’s done I’m going to try the manual reset and see if that lets me open it all the way.

Live in the Vail Valley, and have made it to DIA and back with 40 miles remaining, but this was the first trip over anything besides Vail Pass and the I70 tunnel. Did the loop through Glenwood, stopped for golf at Ironbridge, spent the night in Snowmass (Jazz Festival), drove home the next day over Independence Pass, through Leadville, over Tennessee and Battle Mountain Pass, and finally back home. 205 miles total trip, 193 miles of battery used, with 100 miles remaining. Not sure what I expected, but this was better than I thought. Used 44 miles of battery going up the west side of Independence from Aspen but only gained 7 coming down, but of course we don't come down nearly as far on the east side. Either way she worked like a charm the entire trip, and as usual ended up talking to people about Rivian each time we stopped.
"What kind of truck is that"
Rivian.
"Who makes it?
Rivian.
And so on and so on...

Went back to Mount Herman trail so my wife could do some mushroom hunting. Meanwhile, I kept the track of consumption during the trip.

The first leg, from Erie, to Monument was interrupted as we had to get of I25 due to it being shutdown on Sunday morning. There was a police shooting being investigated. We had to route off the hwy for a few miles before getting back on. At Monument it showed we had 78,8miles, and average of 51mph, with an efficiency of 1.89 miles per kWh. We continued on up the Mount Herman trail with the 2nd trip meter. This time we went 21.6 miles at an avg of 12mph and 1.74mi/kWh. Continuing back hone, with a few stops, we finished the entire trip with 179.3 miles driven, avg 31mph, and 2.21mi/kWh. I drafted behind a semi for a good length of the drive from Monument to Denver and found my 15 minute consumption avg was ~3.5mi/kWh at 80mph. It dropped quite a bit after I stopped drafting.

During this trip, all road miles were in Conserve mode at the 2nd lowest suspension setting. The off road part was, of course, in Off Road mode at the 2nd highest suspension setting.

I also got to try out Camp Mode’s leveling feature. I just wanted to level things out so we could use the tailgate as a table or seating. It’s a bit slow, but that’s not really important. It did seem to work rather well.

Feel like I saw both your cars driving this weekend - or maybe just more Rivian blues showing up on the front range!

Selected one from the shop last week after switching from an R1S reservation.

Launch Green, Forest Edge interior, 20" black A/T wheels

VIN is 95XX

Last update from my guide is my truck is prepped and waiting for transport in Normal. I'm hoping to take delivery over the next couple of weeks.
So, how long have you been waiting?

Just got the email tonight that it is my turn to start the purchasing process! I confirmed my configuration and immediately got an email to start the 8 steps as well as a schedule delivery email. Seems my configuration will be ready for pickup as early as this weekend, assuming I can get through the 8 steps. I was expecting delivery in Nov/Dec so this is a pleasant surprise, but I need to finish my research on best trade in value as well as financing options for the remainder of the purchase cost.

Either way, super excited that delivery day is in sight!!

Since I am right down the road in Broomfield, please share what you learn in your analysis of trade-in versus not. I am planning to pay cash anyway, it's just a matter of the impact of trading in to lower tax burden versus speeding up the delivery process and then selling my Subaru to Carmax.

My experience with Carmax was VERY disappointing. Definitely a low ball offer - about $5K less than what Rivian offered me - and that was before the tax advantage. But my experience with all the online sellers has been very negative.
