I'm sure you will get it quickly...and you'll love it.
Bank notified me this morning that the Rivian payment was processed, and I got verification from my Guide that my truck is at the factory undergoing quality inspection. Once it gets to the Dallas Service Center, it will go through a second round of quality inspections and then I will be contacted to schedule delivery. Given this is the end of Q3, I still expect I will get it before the end of September unless they find something major during the inspections.

End of September is optimistic. Just the experience in the NW is 2-6 days in the second round of inspection. If it is getting to Dallas on the railway it will be a couple weeks.

Yep, understand the reality of how long this "could" take but I'm just hoping Rivian will want to count as many deliveries as possible in their Q3 numbers and have ways to speed up the process when needed. Guess we will see.

I'm second guessing myself and wondering if I should wait for the max pack after all. Has anyone selected a truck from the shop and then backed out to go back in line?
Just FYI if anyone else changes their mind, my guide told me I could be "unmatched" from my R1 shop selection and go back in line if I decide to switch back to the max pack or the R1S. Ugh...what to do. This decision would be much easier if my Lightning didn't get delivered a couple weeks ago. Plus, I thought I had convinced my wife to take the R1S for her next car but she still isn't sold on it ?

Interesting. I would think if she's on the fence and you have a Lightning now that the best course of action would be to go back to what you wanted. Let this group know so they can snag it up when it gets unwound. :)

Texted my guide yesterday about about un-matching from my shop selection. She said she would get my request processed and to let her know what I wanted to switch back to (max pack or R1S). I still had the shop selection VIN showing on my account today, so I asked if switching was something they would have to do and was told yes. I asked to switch over to the R1S and now the VIN is gone from my account (although my account still shows the R1T LE selection), but there should be another R1T LE getting released to the shop at some point.

Does it make sense to get insurance on a vehicle before you own it? I usually just transfer my insurance from my trade-in after the fact.
I just pre-ordered insurance for a month (obviously able to cancel, if needed). My estimated delivery was 2 - 4 weeks and it came in 10 days. I had set a "post dated" activation on my insurance and moved it up on day it was delivered. So, I'd say yes, it makes sense to pre-order insurance.

I just did something similar in order to upload to my proof of insurance for the 8 steps.

Did your guide give you an estimated delivery? Mine just said 6-8 weeks after I picked an LE from the shop last week.

I think they say that when they don't know. I picked up an LE last Thursday afternoon from the shop and was initially told 6-8 weeks. Yesterday I asked for an ETA so I could start doing insurance/financing and my guide told me it was in PDI in San Diego already! I also had someone else from here reach out with a similar story. I'll let him share if he wants to, but he's in LA county.

My guide is Zach.

I'm hoping to snag an LE in Limestone or Glacier White with an OC interior in the R1T Shop.

My 8 steps hadn't even been started when he told me that. I just asked my guide for an eta and he told me it was in pdi in SD after riding a truck for 4 days

Yeah... I'm the LA guy referenced above. Last week during the big store drop, I pulled trigger on an LE/MB/blk interior/dark '22 (my exact build except originally Adventure). Completed steps 7/8 immediately (a rookie move, but I was too excited after weeks of nothing exciting in the shop). Vin is high 11XXX. Original order June '21 and Nov-Dec '22 delivery date. I checked with my guide on Monday and was told that my truck was not in California (originally told 6-8wks). Tuesday night I received an email that my charger shipped. Wednesday received a text that my rig was at the SC for final inspection and time to schedule pickup. Today completed step 8 with pickup on Saturday. I'll share a comprehensive write up once I have it in hand on Saturday. IMHO the big shop drop last week was unique and very different from earlier understandings of how the shop worked as well as regular deliveries. I feel like my guide was in the dark on how the big drop changed guidance for customers (I don't fault him... He did his best to answer all of my questions). Net/net I feel very fortunate and know Rivian is doing its best to deliver a pretty amazing machine. Hope this helps. Good luck to you all.
