I was giving you the benefit of the doubt on your previous posts, thinking you were genuinely debating whether an early model was the right choice for you.

But this clearly shows that you really are just trolling. Officially just made my very short ignore list.
Low effort trolling in my opinion, there's plenty of "negative" to pick from with Rivian that resale value doesn't even make the top 10.

Why anyone would go to a service like Driveway to sell a Rivian is beyond me. Driveway offered him that so that they can turn a profit off it. I'd be very surprised if any P2P or auction sites had a Rivian selling for less than $100k right now
Auctions are starting to drop below $100k now. The last few Cars and Bids sales have been in the $95k-$100k range.

I officially offer him $5 for his Rivian R1T.

Now you can say our trucks have lost nearly ALL their value.

Besides, who buys a vehicle they drive as an investment? It's a depreciating asset....
Is Driveway a legit company? I don't know? I'm hoping some folks might have experience with them.

I'm sharing a fact. A fact you don't like so want to name call and pick on me. Shameful.
You're stating an opinion based on one single data point.

The vehicle hasn't "lost $20,000 in equity", one car-purchase website lowballing isn't the end-all-be-all of vehicle pricing.

Recent private-sale auctions are in the $95k-$100k range. And as I linked above, Driveway themselves are trying to sell for $110k.

It's almost like Driveway wants to leave some margin so they can make money on a resale. No different than when you trade a car into a dealer when buying a new one. If you are expecting a dealer or resaler to give you what the current auctions are closing at, you will be disappointed.

Good point. Have you read some of the posts around here with the equity talk? Good entertainment, but I think little hearts are going to be broken. My buddy included...he's keeping his truck...he was just curious on trade value.

Agreed, it it what it is. Just sharing what he received as a trade value.

What you're arguing is that if I took a rare sealed boxed collectible to my local pawn shop, and they offered me $50, that it's only worth $50; when eBay auctions for the same are in the $100-$150 range. You're confusing "wholesale trade-in" price with *value*.

And the only people who care about "equity" on their Rivian are the people who are flipping them. People who bought them to *DRIVE* don't care.

I knew when I clicked on this that this was going to be an uninspired and completely ridiculous post topic..... I wasn't disappointed.

OP - if you posted this just to gain a reaction and see how blasted you get.... I guess I'll bite.... and then pretend this post never happened:

Driveway? Really? That's your basis for what constitutes resale value?

An R1T with 2,000 miles sold on Bring-a-Trailer (p2p site) for $130K about 2 months ago. Granted, this was most likely inflated due to so many people having no idea when they'd actually get a truck, and with the ramp-up momentum achieved of late, that'll subside a tad, however to assume you're losing money on a truck that you can't buy new today for less than 15% more than you paid for it because of some 3rd party site does what they do and tried to turn a hefty profit is just meh.........

If there was EVER a vehicle you don't currently need to worry about equity in for a new purchase, it's this one. Here are my reasons:

- New trucks are already 15% higher cost than the pre-March reservation holders = instant equity

- Wait on a truck if you ordered TODAY is +/- 1 year. Plenty of folks will pay a premium to avoid that wait = instant equity.

- By all accounts, the product is an extremely well-built machine. Many who've owned Porsche, MB, BMW, etc. have all commented that the quality is on par or exceeding the expectations of high-end vehicle owners = instant equity

- The truck is UNIQUE and one-of-a-kind = instant excitement = instant equity

- The EVolution is really ramping up Nationwide. As the Big 3 adjust and make HARD pivots towards EV R&D and production, us early-adopters have a distinct advantage as the rest of the World wakes up and says "I need to get on this EV bandwagon!".......... You sitting on a high-end, unique, limited edition (for now) EV that you can't go buy when the World is scrambling for capable EV Options = Instant Equity.

I think you're mistaken Sir... (but I think you already knew that).... enjoy your forced conflict. I'm sure you'll find it.

I literally just did Vroom and they offered $85k for my truck. Vroom has always been lower than Carvana, so I’m guessing they would be roughly $90k.

End of the day, way more than I paid for the truck.

Here we go again with your made-up stories and hypothetical questions.... The answer is it is only worth what someone is willing to pay & what someone is willing to sell it for.

You don't understand equity. Please go educate yourself and then make your argument.
Clearly you have nothing to add to this conversation. Please step aside and let the adults discuss.
