Wow fingers crossed! Is it typically a pick up or delivery process?
No idea. Sometimes they deliver. But sometimes they may not have enough trucks available, or if they are busy, like the end of a quarter, they may want someone to pick up. I thought I’ve also read where they may meet you part of the way at a random parking lot, like a Target.

R1S... originally ordered 10/2021, canceled and reinstated after the price increase fiasco... seems they use the "re-ordered" date for the config which kinda sucks.

EDIT: Others have commented that they have a similar original order date but never canceled and are in the same delivery window, so it looks like they are using that original date.
I’m a 7/2021 reservation and have been given a 2024 delivery date. You should consider yourself lucky that the clowns at Rivian have deemed you higher on the priority list.

I preodered 10/19/2021. I'll be amazed if I even get it by the end of 2024.

Feb 2022 R1T order. Never had any sort of delivery estimate until now, and it’s Feb-March 2023.

I tried to configure to prioritize delivery, and won’t be changing it anymore. I think I’ve gotten a bit lucky due to location (SF Bay Area) and others’ configurations. Sorry to others that aren’t, but I’m happy with this news.

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!

3.5 YEARS, 41.5 MONTHS, 291 WEEKS AND 1,264 days from order to delivery - MAYBE! Oh, and I guess now I can expect more delays quarterly.

This is the FOURTH time I've been pushed back the delivery. I NEVER CHANGED my configuration. I have made plans based on EVERY ONE of your erroneous delivery windows. I have cancelled those plans FOUR TIMES.

And as an additional insult - you are using my $1,000 interest free for 3.5 years.

What kind of auto company do you ever expect to be IF YOU CAN'T BE TRUSTED?

Rivian obviously doesn't care about those of us who trusted you FROM THE BEGINNING (order date 04/14/20 most recent window July/September 2023). Rivian would rather make money with their corporate clients and simply screw the people who have been supporters. Rivian's continued lies are getting OLD!
Agree they don't have any respect for pre order
Pretty easy to type that, isn’t it? But on the internet anyone can be an expert.

I guess you just want to ignore any potential supply constraints the R1S may have, or adjustments to the manufacturing line, or machine calibrations that may be needed for the R1S.
Well, I am definitely not a manufacturing expert but as a pre order holder I am some very simple questions for Rivian,
Are they freezing R1S production for good 6 months or so and focus on just R1T or EDV?
If that was the plan then what was the reason for building and delivering R1S till now?
Are they treating pre order holders as their beta testers to check if they can produce R1S or not?

Also, unless I am totally crazy, both R1T and R1S are built on same platform so only R1S is impacted by supply delay? That might have been a good excuse at the beginning of the year but not now.

Lastly, what's the point of having pre order queue if they just want to build what they want. Just build and sell it. Why cheating people around to by making them wait for years and use them as tool to market and test your product?

Welp, I finally got the chance to see an F150 Lightning Lariat extended range battery in person. Found a display at a dealership that I’ll be purchasing in December no markup, I’ll actually get it for under MSRP

Nice! Congrats.

Too bad Ford didn't come out w/ an SUV Lightning based on the F150 Lightning platform.

Yea, Ford would sell Edge EV or Explorer EV like hotcakes. One dealership marked down a Mach-E under MSRP as well. I was pleasantly surprised with the F-150 Lightning. Rivian needs to get its head out the sand because there are really compelling options coming to market. People will only put up with so much. I’ll hold on to my reservation and probably just flip it. Not feeling comfortable with all the issues with R1Ts and living so far away from a SC… oh well

My estimate was…”you’ll receive an update in January“ with a paragraph that effectively says Rivian has no idea when they’ll have service infrastructure in my area. I also preordered July 2021.

So on the basis of that being the only information I was going to get from Rivian, I canceled the preorder.

Today I found out the interview tony caravano did with Rivian stories yesterday. It offered more information and context. Why Rivian didn’t just….tell customers this I cannot fathom.

R1S and R1T have plenty of different parts. Sharing a platform does not mean they are identical. One is a two row truck, one is a three row SUV. Different rears. Pretty obvious that if they don’t have the third row seat, or another SUV component, they can’t make them.

No chance it's for an R1S...I live in NJ too. Most OC S orders are delayed well into 2023...a '22 R1S order is getting fulfilled until 2024...

Clearly you just need to look at the two vehicles to understand that B pillar forward virtually the same behind that significantly different. There absolutely can be supply chain issue with items that are unique to the R1S.

Not saying there are but to say there can’t be is clearly a bad faith point to any argument.

I agree there may be but Rivian never told specifically in last 6 months or so that either they have supply issues specific to R1S or building R1S is not a priority for so & so reasons. So, it is not a bad faith but more of judgement came out from Rivian's behavior lately.

Also, my frustration is not coming because I was delayed by 6 months or more but actually because they never gave me clarity that my order is of no priority for them and made me wait in hope that I will be getting delivery much sooner than later.

There is no need to speculate why the R1S delivery is pushed back. Rivian communicated the following so far:
  1. R1s and T ramp is going good. All is good, sunshine and rainbows on the progress.
  2. There is no supply chain issue. In fact it is getting much better.
  3. Additional shifts being add at the factory
  4. Oct 28 update: delivery pushed back as Rivian is changing the build plan. Which means R1s no longer a priority. To make things worse, don't hold your breath for updated delayed estimates to hold. Rivian will update again in Jan.
Constant lies, bait and switch from Rivian for 3 straight years.
No excuses for this behavior. Never gaining my trust back again!
