I'm a December 2021/early January 2022 (I forgot) preorder.

My date is "January - December 2024". :p I actually don't mind THAT much since I got a 2022 Telsa Model S about 3 weeks ago. It is working fine as a daily/family hauler now and it'll give me some time to save up as well as Rivian to potentially iron out/improve things over the next year or so.

I'm pretty sure people know the date you receive now is probably a best case scenario. Nothing is set in stone. If mine says "January - December 2024" it will likely be delivered tail end of that mark, or even sometime in 2025.

Build:
- Rivian Blue
- Adventure
- Quad Motor
- Large Pack
- 22" Sport Bright wheels
- Black Mountain + Dark Ash Wood
- Reinforced Underbody Shield
- Tow Hooks(included)

  • Pre-order: November 2020
  • Delivery window: July - September 2023
  • Build:
    • Forest Green / Black Mountain
    • Adventure
    • 21" standard wheels (would've gone for 20" ATs, but want 5 wheels for overlanding and there's no word when/if Rivian will provide option for single wheel purchase, so probably opting for aftermarket AT wheels)
    • Reinforced Underbody Shield
    • Roof Rack
    • All-weather mats
  • In an effort to move delivery date up as much as possible:
    • April 2022 - switched from pacific coast to black mountain interior after announcement of pacific coast supply issues
    • August 2022 - signed contract to purchase, making deposit non-refundable and allowing Rivian to add my order to list of guaranteed production prioritization (also did this is as IRA had not been passed and at the time it was looking like we might lose the $7,500 tax credit)
  • Prior to 10/28/22, was never actually given a delivery range by my Rivian Guide
Switched multiple times between R1T and R1S in the past, but finally settled on the R1S early 2022 due to max pack production looking like it was going to be delayed (which we've obviously seen is now confirmed).

The wait for overlanding adventures continues...

I am certainly not immune from playing the speculation game, but the whys and hows of Rivian's decision making may never be known. A lot of folks have been pushed back, but some have not. I am fortunate to be one of the latter, yet I have no idea why. My pre-order was 3/21, originally 1h '23 delivery, now Apr-June delivery. Apart from some obvious configuration choices (such as Max pack, dual motor, etc and being nowhere near a SC), I have seen clear exceptions to most of the speculation. One thing I can say is that I have never changed my configuration from day one... That's more speculation of course, and I have no idea if that has made any difference.

Interesting,
Your order was 1 month after mine, yet, delivery might be 1 year mine.
If you don't mind, please share your configuration screen shot.

I might have been uninterested and motiveless as you are to find out what exactly is happening, if my delivery would not have pushed suddenly over night 1-1.5 years.

I actually sent Rivian an email, no response, but also called Rivian and got a bunch of cookie cut responses...

- No Adventure packages would be delivered in 2022, production only begins Jan 2023 currently only producing LE.
- Ocean coast only starts Jan 2023.
- There are no issues with LA Silver that they can see.
- They are useless about recommending any change that might speed delivery, they actually try slightly to discourage changes.
- They are aware of discrepancy regarding New orders promised Late 2023 Delivery while 2-3 year old pre orders are pushed to 2024, "raised it to leadership".

- They obviously Denied Financial compensation priority or reduction in R1S ramp up.

Nothing they stated could explain the discrepancy where newer pre orders are estimated to get their order over a year sooner the some older ones.

Extremely frustrating, to say the least. It would require me to buy an Ice car to close the 1.5-2 year gap suddenly created supposedly randomly.

I wouldn't say that I am motiveless or uninterested. I am, after all, scouring the forum at 9am on a Tuesday! I certainly don't blame you for being frustrated either. Here is my build.

Thank you, the only thing I could see, it your total price is above $82k, $5k higher than mine, maybe that is their motivation?
I would gladly add a few features if it could cut a year off my estimate delivery, but... It might not. Will have to wait till some smarter and more dedicated fans than I am come with proven conclusions.
Thx again for sharing.

Not changing the configuration does not matter. I have kept the same color, interior, wheel combination since the configuration went live. I got pushed back to Feb March.

Don't count on your April-June window to hold. New estimates coming in January 2023.
